First do a complete tune up and then see if the injectors needs to be re-calibrated. Looks like a fueling issue than anything to do with overheating. To be on the safe side, check if you dont have any head gasket failure and compression loss at the cylinders.

Would this be a problem due to a damaged intercooler? I also faced a similar type of problem wherein my car used to jerk whenever I changed gears from 1 to 2 or from 2 to 3 during low RPMS. Also, the pick up was poor. Finally I had to replace the intercooler.

Also, please share the details once the diagnosis is done for your car and problem resolved.

Frank, were you able to resolve the issue? Facing *exactly* the same problem on a Linea.

My clutch play went wonky after it went in for some work recently.. however I've noticed this weird deceleration even otherwise.

Hi there. This problem was there for a few weeks, and it just 'sorted itself' out sir. I could attribute it to a situation I call sticky clutch/brakes. Something was impeding the car from going further. I don't know how to explain it, but I think you should get the brake pads/clutch setting checked. It's a small issue, annoying, but easily rectifiable!

Yep I know what you mean, if feels like someone hit the brakes.
The brake pads aren't the issue in my case, since as you mentioned this behaviour doesn't show up when the gears aren't engaged.
Unfortunately for me, this isn't sorting itself out :(

Thanks

I have got the same problem with my 2006 M800. The jerk is so violent with a thud that you feel something is awfully wrong. I had recently gotten my clutch overhauled!

Re: Weird Issue: Engine jerks on deceleration?

I faced this issue last night where the car jerks when I leave my foot off the accelerator. It was pretty strong sometimes. It's an Xcent and the car never experienced it earlier. Will take it to the Hyundai service center this week to diagnose and rectify.
