Lexus and Camry (or another Toyota) sharing parts?

Someone told me that Lexus has parts from Toyota cars. I will not be surprised if they do, however this argument is interesting

Why Is Lexus Version Of Prius Going To Be Built In Japan Rather Than Stateside? - AutoSpies Auto News

Does anyone have concrete info on this? Someone here is talking about sharing engine/chassis with Toyota crown!

I am talking of the current generation cars. Can someone throw some light?

Toyota owns Lexus. GM basically has platforms and parts shared across the eleventy billion brands they own. VAG owns Audi, VW, Lamborghini, Bentley... Audi R8/Lambo Gallardo? Honda and Acura. Nissan and Infiniti.

What do you think Lexus would rather do? Spend double for developing cars which are basically the same underneath with different body panels and more toys?

They do share parts. Lexus vehicles share their underpinnings with Toyota. So does Audi, VW and Skoda. Nothing wrong with it.

And it's not only on the entry-level Lexus'. The brands top of the line SUV is little more than a Landcruiser with leather + some goodies.
