Synthetic Oil Grade for Palio

Hi,

I have just left my palio for service and was surprised that the staff at Concorde, Bangalore indicated to me that they do not have synthetic oil. The service guy told me that he would be happy to change the same provided that I purchase and hand it over to them, since he told me that Fiat recommends only mineral oil.

I am a tad concerned, is this correct?

If not, which grade of oil needs to be used for the same and what is the quantity of the same to be used for a 1.2 petrol?

I am not sure if there is any restriction on using synthetic oil. You can check with Shell gas stations as they do have synthetic oil. Check your owners manual for the quantity related details.

Yes, Concorde is right, Fiat recommends mineral oil for Palio 1.2 routine service.

If you want to put Synthetic oil, you can buy Mobil1 / Shell Helix Ultra / Castrol Edge.
Palio 1.2 would require 3 lts. of engine oil.

How many kms does your car have on the odo?
I wonder why fiat recommends only mineral? I used Mobil1 5w50 on my last oil change (swift vxi) a week back and am very happy with it. I think the same grade would be fine for your Palio.
Also, it would probably be a good idea to do an engine flush.

why dont you enquire if you could use the oil that is recommended for the linea. I think its called selina.

The OEM grade should be 15W40.
