Cool Air Intake System on Palio 1.1 SLE

Dear BHP ians,

This is my first post in this forum and fortunately or unfortunately, I am asking a technical doubt...

I have a K&N Appollo CAIS installed in my 1.1 Stile SLE. Some days back, I saw a slimy black substance oozing down on to the top portion of the engine where the air pipe from the K&N goes vertically down and joins some metal parts.

I thought it was oil leak from the engine though it did not make any sense at that time. Now I think it must have been slime from moisture entering into the air filter.

For a car that is less than an year old, there is a very remote chance of oil getting leaked upwards into the junction of air filter pipe right? I cleaned it with soap and a tooth brush once and after two weeks when I checked after doing around 1000 km in two long trips, the place was completely dry. If It had been oil leak, it should have come again.

What is your take on this?

I had the car shown at Concorde, but they also said there is a very slight chance of oil leak. I didn't ask them to open the cover and check because I wanted to wash the substance away and see if the problem is persisting...

Can you give me your views ?

Could it be because the intake pipe of the Cool Air Intake System is kept low near the bumper, and the air filter is sucking in water when the car travels through waterlogged roads during the monsoon?

Would appreciate it a lot of you can help me with this query...

Hi Deepak!

Welcome to the forum. Your take on the grime seems to be correct. However a few pics of the problem area would help narrow down the exact cause.
