Swift Dzire - Body colored sticker on door ?

Hi,

Has anybody noticed body colored sticker at the bottom of the back doors(and near to that on the car body as well) on Swift/Dzire vehicles?. Does anybody know why is a sticker pasted there?.

Thanks

Regards,
_Vishal

That patch is there is all swifts and dzire's, it basically is for protecting the body/paint from scars from road grime.

Most likely that area is prone to muck being thrown from the front wheels while at motion and the clear patch is provided for some amount of protection there.

Hmm....But is it not strange to have such a thin sticker for preventing the muck thrown from the front wheels?. I mean depending on the speed of the vehicle, the muck could thrown at different distances.

Thats the most vulnerable patch which can take the hit, I have noticed the same in my car. Low speeds the running board takes the hit, which is already protected with the rough rubberized strip, at high speed the door edge takes the hit.

Yup. That sounds logical. BTW, I had asked the same question to a couple of MASS guys yesterday and they had no clue why do all swift/dzire have the sticker

dont think it has anything to do with the splash/spray protection.
the strip below the running board could be protective in nature. any other car with these type of transparent stickers?

It is not body color - they are transparent

They are actually not body colored but transparent tapes !!!

I removed them from the back doors on either sides .

They are there only for transporting the car in trucks during initial transport from Gurgaon (Manesar) plant to your city's dealers and protect the car paint from the belts used to tighten the tyres of car on truck (double decker - rails).

The sticker is not available as spares.
When one of my doors needed paint job, they removed the sticker. As its not available separately, its not stick again.
The sticker is reasonably thick and can withstand small stones and grimes.

I also guess it has to do with keeping away road tar spots. If it gets bad, the sticker can just be removed

Every week or two, I have to spend close to an hours trying hard to remove road tar. Small dark spots that need a good amounf of rubbing. And mostly on the lower pannel

Are these stickers available for other cars as well?

Havent noticed these stickers on any other cars ! Not present on our Honda City or our 320D either !
(Maybe T-bhpians can share their experiences)

When i got my Swift repainted, the service advisor mentioned that they weren't in stock so i got it repainted with out and i don't find any difference without them !

Guys, what are the chances that this sticker is the same as the paint protection being discussed here? Sounds very similar in purpose.
