Air filter installation - help needed

I have changed the Air filter for my lancer diesel, as DIY method, but after installing, i have an doubt, whether any oil should be applied to the new filter or any other methods should be followed. If oil should be applied what oil should be applied. I am not sure whether oil should be used or not.

I have installed Stock replacement Sakura brand filter. Not performance filters .

Was there oil on the old filter? AFAIK stock filters do not need any oil application.

Oiling is normally required only in cleanable filters. Paper element filters (which are almost always disposable) do not require any oiling.

Theres no instruction on pack, but as most say, i shall use it without oil, since it is stock paper filter.

@sgiitk

Oil is used for Polyurethane foam and cotton gauze type air filters. Make sure yours isn't one !

Your filter does not require cleaning if its a paper element filter and hence no oil required.
