i wanted to know the following from fellow Palio or petra owners:

1)When the car is cranked(engine started) but still at a standstill if u switch ON the AC does the radiator fan switch on instantly and keep running till the ac is on

or

2)does it come on after a while(when u are still at stanstill) and run at regular intervals(going from lower to higher speed while starting and vice-versa when shutting down).

also what i have noticed is that the air from the left side wents is warmer than on the right side vents(including the centre console).can anyone check this too.

Note:Please tell me only when the engine is cold(that means the first start in the day).

if u havent noticed please check and inform me.there is some crazy problem in my Ac system,there is no leakage but the gas vanishes and Ac tech told me there is problem in the fan(my fan works like the second case i have told) hence the pressure valve is releasing gas to ease load on the system.also can u suggest a good AC specialist in Mumbai(near Boravli or Andheri).

the 2) case is the way it should work ,altough driven but never owned a palio..while using my friends car extensively i noticed the fans switches on when the car is idle after being driven ...
noticed the same in my corsa ..FAN switches on and cuts out at intervals ..duration may lenghten as engine temprature increases ...

what dont you take the car to the dealer ?

case 2 is the way it should work when the engine gets heated after driving and not while at a standstill just after starting a cold engine.Palio users please check up.and the dealer is little far off.

also i forgot to mention the car is a 1.6GTX.

when you are driving the air flowing into the radiator does help in cooling it.but when the car is standing still ,there is flow of air,and so the fan comes on more frequently to cool the engine.

I'll check it, but I suspect, the radiator fan switches on even if you do not crank the engine. Just turn the ignition ON and fan starts.

i wanted to know for the when u switch on the AC if the fan is off does it start immediately if u switch the Ac on.please tell me for a Cold engine so that engine temp is not a issue to start the fan.

I have a Uno 1.2 and had this Gas leakage trouble from day one of my car....till the first two years..must have done a dozen refills..ask them to fill colored nitrogen in the system and dirve the car for a few days..this way you will be able to find the exact source of the leak

Fan is not connected to the Gas path..it is a lot of B*%%&^*(....

last service time they did replace a fan resistance fitted in the lower part of the fan assembly which apprantely controls the fan speed for the AC because unlike Maruti or hyundai,tata etc Fiat cars have only one radiator fan as the Ac condensor is fitted in front of the radiator whith the fan running at 2 speeds one for AC and other for engne cooling.

this resistance has shot circuited last monsoon when i put the car through bumper deep water,the problem has started since then.maybe someone with a palio or petra can try today morning and tell me accordingly.it will be of great help.i have not actually gone to the dealer with the probem as yet.if it is just gas problem i can do it in my town itself rather than going 50-60kms(1-way) to anuroop auto in the City.
