1.6 ROCAM Vs 1.5 Vtec?

i was gong through the stats of the ohc and my ikon and found something interesting. though i know that engine displacement does not affect power outtage, it was interesting to see that my car pumps out 10-15 bhp less than the ohc. a stock 92 bhp Vs 115 bhp(i suppose, maybe) I was wondering if it is because of the single camshaft of the ikon or the Vtec engine of the ohc.. because both the cars are Very similar in kerb weight. i am also interested in knowing what is the OHC's stock 0-100 time
PS: The OHC refers to Old Honda City Type 2

The OHC's VTEC engine is also single cam. I have only been in an Ikon 1.6 once, and if I remember correctly, it had more bottom end power than high end. OTOH, the OHC's engine has lots of high end grunt owing to the rev-happy engine along with VTEC. But in proper hands, even an Ikon can be truckloads of fun.

Stock 0-100 time of an OHC VTEC is around 10s.

The 1.6 Rocam engine was a incredibly responsive engine, Along with the shorter gearing it pulled it pulled really well from low down but the high end was not as good as the Honda VTEC.

The OHC VTEC engine was the first car below 10 lakhs to offer variable valve time in India. Mid and high end of this engine was very powerful and smooth.

Well the OHC VTEC is 106bhp not 115. The diff is not down to just the cam. Every single part of the engine helps make up this diff.

The non VTEC OHC is 1.5L and has a single cam profile, but it still makes 100bhp (8 more than the Ikon 1.6)

The fastest 0-100 recorded for a stock VTEC on 175 tyres is 9.92 when Overdrive tested it in 2000.

During the 17 car performance test done by Overdrive later, the VTEC did 10.12 while the Ikon 1.6 managed 14.15.

Gee, that's pretty interesting, since ikon specs say it does a 0-100 in 11.46 sec. considering the fact that it does not have VVT, an 8 bhp diff is ok, but thinking if it will be worth the mods?

Variable valve timing has nothing to do with outright power. You can make the same amount of torque/horsepower without one, at the cost of low/mid-range drivability.

The 2 engines delivered power in complete opposite ranges. I personally loved the 1.6 Rocam's wheel spins in traffic and amazing low-mid power/torque.

Absolutely.
Engine characteristics of these engines are completely different.

i was thinking of an initial FFE and filter and a turbo 2 years down the line. but considering the fact that ikon is FWD, i'll have to give it a second thought
