Swift's Jerking Problem

I am experencing a strange problem that sometimes when i switch from 3 gear to 2nd gear Engine starts jerking(jhatka) for a while(about 3-5 seconds).
This occurs at between 18-25Km/h.
What can be the reason behind this?
Thanks and Regards

does this happen only when you shift from second to third or otherwise also ??
try and leave the clutch gradually.

Please change the name of this thread as this is misleading to the prespective buyers. The name of the problem should be Swift transmission/gearing problem.

hey,
swift has serious gearbox issues.
suzuki has messed up....as usual. had the chance to see one completely dissassembled and was pretty dissappointed by its design. cannot even be modded easily. pretty flimsy too.
if i am not mistaken a lot of swifts on the international market were recalled due to reverse gear not engaging...!!

Welcome to the Jhatka club. Early Indica Diesels and early City VTECs also had the jhatka during downshifting. Methinks its a ECU calibration issue.

Iceman, gearbox same as Esteem na?

Its a different gear box... and no the Swifts were not recalled due to transmission issues, but due to fuel pump. The Swift gear box is better than Esteems or Balenos. I own Esteem and Swift so can vouch for this. Rest minor issues like reverse not engaging for some people are isolated incidents which might be due to the drivers fault. In any case please dont even think of comparing a Swift gearbox with Indica.

Swift was never recalled for transmission issues. The only issue I have come accross in this forum is that some people complained that the reverse gear was not engaging properly. This was due to the setup which most cars have which is different for the reverse gear as opposed to the other four. I am telling you from the experience of driving Zen, Esteem, Baleno and Swift that Swift gear box doesnt have that elastic feel of the cars mentioned, rather it feels power assisted and the gear changes are very precise. Some people who have driven Esteem/Baleno/Zen find it difficult to adjust to these gears, but this is a step forward not backwards and they do feel a lot better.

I believe this must be with A/c only?... if so that happens in many cars! Not a problem.

i think aseem is right...the problem if any is there in the reverse gear only...that too not always...but the gear shift i must admit feels solid...and pricise...especially the small gear levers sporty feel

I Ditto both Aseem and muni.

@abhi1881
A hunch - Check the clutch pedal. I got my Swift's clutch adjusted in the first 200 kms of operation as the pedal had 'sunk a bit' and causing engaging issues.

Cheers
