thanks guys..for the replies..I got this problem checked by cauvery ford in Bangalore and they said they have done a clutch servicing..But i really doubt if they have done any thing..
A little out of topic.. are there any good car service centres/ mechanics in Bangalore who can do a good job of servicing my car, clearly identify problems and take corrective repairs... i am very very sad at the so called "quality" care provided by cauvery and metro ford in Bangalore ... They need so much pestering by me to get the car serviced properly and repair all the problems i showed by me.
Can you guys in bangalore direct me to some reputed, mechanic/service centre whom i can trust??
thanks,
-Shaz

Hi,

I just test-drove an Indigo TDi last week. The clutch was ROCK hard, and with the frequent gear shifting, the test-drive was hopeless. The dealer claims the clutch is like this in all new Indigos, is this true? Would be grateful if any existing Indigo owners shed some light on this.

Cheers,
ballkey

PS: Does the Gear shift lever always wobble so much in Indigos?

Sorry to revive this old thread but I have a similar problem in my Santro LS 2002. The clutch pedal is hard to push but there is no clutch slipping. Do I need to overhaul the clutch or just replace the cable? The car has done 60K km. In case I need an overhaul, which good brand(s) of clutch plate, pressure plate, clutch release bearing & cable can I buy from the aftermarket? I would like to avoid visiting a HASS.
Thanks in advance.

@ Nura: As it has done 60K kms, my opinion is either change the clutch assy of if the clutch is good do a complete overhauling along with the clutch cable etc. This should solve the problem.

Re: Hard clutch

Damn! I've to revive this thread.

So, I'm driving my Corsa at 5.30am and all of a sudden, the clutch becomes hard to press. At first, I think I've pressed the wrong pedal (!) but after trying again, it is indeed the clutch going hard. I get home cautiously and sleep over it.

I checked it this morning again and same story - hard clutch. Now, when I engage the reverse gear, the car jerks backward. The other gears don't induce jerking but are still hard to engage.

Time for clutch replacement?

I spoke to a mechanic recommended on T-BHP; he said, it could be something to do with sleave cylinder. Any idea what that is and if that could be the cause?

Clutch replacement at A.S.S. = 12k = almost my new year eve celebration budget. Please give me some good news
