Hey guys,
as many of you all know, we have a new lancer which is currently running on 14" godyear eagle Venturs - 195/60/R14.
Now the thing is that the spare tyre in the trunk is rattling quite a lot which is irritating. We have tried doing everything possible and have gotten it removed and put back and bolted from both the lancer dealerships, 2 different tyrewallas, everything.
The thing is that my jijaji and some other lancer owners who have the same and bigger tyres ( upto 16" ) aren't facing any problem.
To be more specific,
my jijaji who has a 2001/2002 lancer SFXi with the same size Venturas tyres isn't facing the problem.
Only difference is that his is the org. SFXi rims and we have the ones below.
Do You guys think the problem could be because of the rims?
thanks.

Side Profile -

Put something to cushion the noise in place and then secure the tyre to its designated area. Use a good foam/sponge type material.

Thanks bro,
will try it tomorrow.

The problem is because of your upsize. MY friend has the same problem for a while... he went back to Saifee in khar from whom he got his alloys and they gave him a larger bolt so that it would fit tight.

If the bolt of alloys is not tight, this could prove to be very very dangerous. Please change your alloys/bolt immidiately and do not jeopordize your and your families life. Here at TBHP safety comes before style of having alloys.

OK maybe this will work out lamborghini.

try to put the spare tyre in your jijaji's trunk and try to put your jijaji's tyre in your trunk. see if any car makes noise.

If your car makes noise there is some problem in your car's spare tyre compartment

If your Jijaji's car makes noise then its the tyre that is the culprit.

lol: i agree.try that out and see what happens

no seriously just try and put some foam or cloth or something to eleminate the noise.it should do the job.

I guess if you try Dev's suggestion. You should be able to crack it

If i try Dev's suggestion, i would have to travel to baroda/Vadodara.
Anyway,
I think it could be the bolts as the culprit,
I have gotten the bolts on the tyres changed, just not the bolts in the trunk and the reason for the upsize was infact safety and better handling.
Will go and get the bolts changed tomorrow.

Since the tyre is placed upside down, it culd be the spokes touchin the bottom cuz in some alloys the spokes are kinda buldge a lil.....well its just a thought :D

Not really. Try any lancer in fact for the tyre swap. If the tyre is making noise in any other lancer than its the tyre that is the culprit.

until then try to put the other lancers standard tyre in your car.

you will know where the problem lies. the dealer will let you do this for your help. :)

This could be dumbest reply on this thread, but how about padding with thermacole below the tyre till you find good solution to your problem?

So lamborghini what is the outcome? Did you get your problem fixed?

did you try with the dealer?

Well,
i tried the foam suggestion and the noise has almost dissapeared.
Still conducting further research on it.
