ANHC VAT - Sport Mode

I checked and searched but could not find this piece of information. I recently test drove and also booked the new Honda City AT. I have been hearing that the sport mode in the Honda City is completely automatic but from the short test drive I had and what I have read so far this is what I could find, need help to check if these are right or different.

1. The D mode is automatic, you can use the paddle shift to downshift/upshift for short bursts of accelaration/braking but it switches back to auto quickly.
2. The S mode is also automatic until you use the paddle gears. Once you use the paddle gears, it goes into manual. But if I shift up to 4th and slow down suddenly, it downshifts automatically in order to prevent the car from stalling. Similarly, if I hit the redline, will this upshift automatically? I was not able to check that in the test drive, please help.
3. If I leave the car in S mode and use paddles for sometime, will it shift back to Auto in sometime or will it remain in manual until I move it to D?
4. The audio system says it can connect to ipod as well as USB, need to know if I connect an USB with multiple folders, can i navigate using the system provided by Honda?
5. Saw a nice thread on the Hondaputer done by Netarchie, does anyone know if there is a direct bolt on kit like that available?
6. Have not seen a lot of pics of rear spoilers for the ANHC, anyone have any?
7. Last, heard something about the ANHC not having great ground clearance. During the test drive, I loaded the car with 5 people and drove around but it didnt really touch anywhere, need to know if the suspension degrades quickly and if this is causing any issues?

Thanks in advance for your respones.
Cheers.

that is there in the city only my civic does not have it at all so cant comment

2. The S mode is also automatic until you use the paddle gears. Once you us the paddle gears, it goes into manual. it will not shift up automatically only shifts down to prevent stalling i guess. it goes all the way up till you change gears.

3. If I leave the car in S mode and use paddles for sometime, will it shift back to Auto in sometime or will it remain in manual until I move it to D?

it will not shift to auto you have to change gears manually.

4. The audio system says it can connect to ipod as well as USB, need to know if I connect an USB with multiple folders, can i navigate using the system provided by Honda?

not sure as civic has diff. functions

5. Saw a nice thread on the Hondaputer done by Netarchie, does anyone know if there is a direct bolt on kit like that available?

there are a few but the dash has to be made custom in everycase you will need a dashkit for the same. cpu can be arranged out of the box.

6. Have not seen a lot of pics of rear spoilers for the ANHC, anyone have any?

a few are around but i think only a lip spoiler looks good. unless you want to eat pav bhaji or hang clothes with those big spoilers which just add weight, not like youre going over 200 right ?

if i can live with a civic in bombay and my place here without touches i dont think the city comes close to touching i also have the city cvt no touches there too, so youre safe

No, suspension doesn't degrade. Probably you did not encounter a huge hump during test drive

Thanks in advance for your respones.

Add another qn:

8. Is it possible to switch the stick between D and S modes while in motion?

Yes that it fine.

Your assumption of number one is right.

In number two, yes it does downshift to prevent the engine stalling and it does not upshift when you hit the redline, it seems to be a feature in all newer honda cars. In older generation cars which had tiptronic it used to upshift on its own at the redline.

thanks for clarifying akshay. that will be nice. so going by the same logic, it will downshift only when it is about to stall and not otherwise right?

Yes, if you are below a certain speed in a higher gear it will downshift to prevent stalling.

S mode is Sport/Sequential. While you can up/down shift in D also, in S the car stays in the gear selected until you go too slow. Also, in S if you do not use the paddles then 5th gear is disabled and the shifting is more aggressive. Also for you get engine braking!

Re: ANHC VAT - Sport Mode

In D you can use the paddles for up or down shifting, however the car will return to full auto mode again.

In S once you use the paddles the car will stay in manual mode only downshifting to prevent stalling. But will not upshift even at the redline.

I saw an ANHC with a spoiler yesterday that had a spoiler which was done tastefully, it suited the car well. Sorry dont have a pic though.
