Wow, this is great news. FIAT is listening to customers after all. I have not faced such issue as of now (1.3 MJD) but may be even I will talk to my dealer about this.

you need not worry.
As told by fiat mechanic,
the AC in the multijet is much much better.
And doesn't need any modifications
I do have an AC problem with Punto 1.4. I will have to check with dealer. The last time I mentioned problem with Service center.. he casually told that this is the maximum effectiveness in Punto.
Goog move by Fiat, so for existing owners Is it for all variants of Linea/Punto both petrol & diesel. Or only to HVAC systems and not for ACC on Emotion Packs?
I think even Linea MJD should get this improvement.
The ACC is no good. With sun on top, Full blown AC is OK for two, but is hardly effective with full passenger load.
Ok now I get it. Its HVAC . This is the climate control one. So i guess it wil be done only for emotion pack owners. Emotion owners can rest easy then.
The T-jet seems to have an improved AC as reported by GTO.I guess they must be implementing that system in the rest of the line up.

HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) is the general term used for air conditioning. The changes mentioned are something to do with the whole AC setup, most likely the compressor. This will be applicable to all models and not only ACC equipped ones.
I personally find the Punto 1.4's ACC quite effective in Mysore, but the other day when i sat in a Linea in Chennai, it really took ages to cool. People staying in hot areas feel the problem i'm guessing. I'm sure all the Linea/Punto owners from not so hot areas are satisfied with the cooling...

It takes at least 1/2 Hrs to cool that also is not sufficient enough for Chennai climate. In evenings it is ok with Fiat GP’s A/C here in Chennai. But in a mid day you will be irritated to be inside the car under sun.
Smart move by Fiat. This will restore some confidence in current and prospective Fiat onwers, given their uncertain service plans going forward
Now that is called customer satisfaction. The AC in linea and punto was not so bad but was adequate .So now Fiat will make it a chiller like the T-Jet .
I wish Hyundai improve their Santro AC which works so bad in peak N.India summer months(it has been so many years ).Same goes for Esteem , Zen , Dezire .I wonder why dont other manufacturer come and say it is not ok and we will improve it .I guess it is the lack of demanding customers for these make .(Like Myself)
Today I checked with Conc Motors, Chennai. They tried the retrofit for only one Linea and the feed back is not satisfactory. Also, they have not received any communication from Fiat yet to inform the existing Linea customers about the same. So they are holding up. :Shockked:
Hi Has anyone got this retro fitting done in either Linea/Punto in Bangalore. I am planning to enquire and find out if its being done at concorde. Please let me know if someone has already done it and how effective is it.
Good move. But this is a normal thing in other countries. In India it's not so common.
I just met GM service for one of the TATA-FIAT A.S.S, regarding the AC issue for the Linea. He acknowledged that they have received a communication from Fiat on changing the entire "Kit" including compressor, cooling coil, expansion valve etc.

However, there is no update as yet about when will they be receiving the "kits" for changing the existing HVAC system in Linea (Petrol),
He also mentioned that they will reach out to all customers who purchased a Linea manufactured before Jun 30 as the problem reportedly has been fixed in the cars manufactured post this date.
Some additional updates:
Fiat has released a check-list to the service centers for some of the most common issues, like:
1. Steering Column Noise - They are replacing the LH, RH Pads along with bearings in steering column.
2. Door Handles being hard to open; takes quite some effort - Some parts are being replaced; usually readily available at the service centers
3. Engine Warning Lamp turning on and Engine stalling although momentarily Solution 1 - ECU remapping and if the issue persists; ECU will be replaced.
Trust this helps some of the folks.
