News sourced from ACI, November issue, page 37 Quote:
Growing customer complaints of poor cooling, especially in the 1.2 punto and 1.4 petrol linea, has forced the company to redesign the entire HVAC system. All fiats now sold will come with new air-conditioning units which include a new variable compressor and a beefed up condensor unit.
However, for existing owners, fiat is planning to retrofit a kit that will have all the parts of the new air con system to sort out the problem.
This process could take a couple of months and will begin in regions where ambient temperatures are hotter than elsewhere.

A welcome move by Fiat. I guess now all the niggling issues of a Fiat car in India is solved!:thumbs up
Great news ! This shows Fiat is really working hard to win back customers , and gain good reputation.
I guess the new Tjet has this uprated AC system where GTO has reported a huge increase in performance from the previous Lineas.
Fantastic initiative by Fiat...
Its time for Hyundai to man up and fix the i20..
they fitted a new air filter and a heat shield on the compressor pipe on my car a few days back.
they called it a 'retro-fit'
when will these complete retro-fits be done on the Mumbai cars?
A big thumbs up, but why was the problem there in the first place? Didn't we see many testmules doing rounds prior to launch. Or is it that the camouflaging provided heat insulation of sorts.

If any Hyundai persons reading this :D learn 1 or 2 from FIAT. :thumbs up
What about the AC in multijet Linea?
I have booked Linea 1.4 petrol on 17th Oct'10. Delivery sheduled before 2nd Nov'10. hope my linea will be manufactured (or may be already manufactured) with new set of ACs!!!. Because in Hyd temp is just toooo much high during summer/oct heat.
Good attempt from FIAT !!

You might want to make sure. Wait longer if you have to.
Too good to be true. Especially after what I had to hear from everyone when buying a FIAT.
But was the AC ineffective in first place? I found it to be kinda of ok.
Anyways lets see if this is for real.

Exactly my thoughts as well, I was planning to book it tomorrow. How can I ensure that I get newly designed AC in my car? Any idea when was it implemented? If I take Oct 2010 Punto, will I have this newly designed AC?

why does i20 has such poor a/c. I see a lot of complaints on it here. Verna has such a chiller. Is it because of cost cutting factor ?
Its interesting. Considering Palio MJD had a chiller of an AC and even Italy is a rather warm country - where it must've been designed! But anyways - really nice move by them to retrofit it for existing customers.
