Hello everybody has anyone ever noticed the variety/difference of equipment/instrument level of vehicles, even if one compares in the same class of vehicles??

Its quite a bit, leaving a customer confused as to whats required/essential and whats not.

Isn't there should be some guideline(albeit unofficial, something like may be decided by the manufacturers themselves) as to what should be the minimum equipment/instrument set in a vehicle. Now one may say we already have it. Like speedo, odo, temp, tell tale indicator(oil temp, fuel level etc) which are basic for safe operation for a vehicle.

In this thread i want to bring into consideration those additional equipment/instrument which enhances efficiency/safety, although its accepted that this is going to COST. However there should be at least be an OE option for those discerning customers who want it.

In this set of additional things there may be
(a) Fuel efficiency/consumption gauge
(b) Rear View camera/sensor
(c) Service Reminder Indicator

Now this list can be exhaustive and since all vehicles now a days come with ECUs many of these info(FE/consumption, service reminder etc) is already available, whats required is just to display them. In many other cases its just having the right cabling present(Rear view camera/sensor).

May be all manufacturer switch to digital only console where in customer chooses how much he wants to pay for what all he want. This shouldnt be a problem with all vehicles again coming equpped with ECUs.

So if one analyses the cost factor may not be huge but if it all comes as an OE option it helps.(And yes helps all DIY types here in T-BHP fraternity also!!!)

Hope some manufacturer gets to see posts like this and gives us to choose what we exactly want??????
