Skoda Octavia: Automatic Transmission Overhaul

I just finished overhauling the auto gear box...whew ! four months of struggle and research and finally. These tranny's are a problem to fix in India. Realised that a rat had got to the wiring between the ECM and the Valve body.

Replaced valve body solenoids, cable strap
Replace wiring from ECM to Transmission
Overhauled the Gear box with a fresh kit

What an escapade. Anybody needs help on the Auto Tranny's do get in touch

HOw many kms on your vehicle? Was the overhaul done at dealer?

Some background would help here.
Why was the overhaul necessary if it was just rat wire damage ?

Did you DIY or the service center folks help in fixing the issue ?

getanilkhanna, i have a few questions for you.

Why was the whole gearbox overhauled if it just damage to the wiring by the rat?
Where did you get the Job done? Also if it was someplace else than the ASC, Where did you source the parts from?
How much did this cost?
How much has your car run till date? Are you the first owner of the car?

The rat got the wiring ....so the ECM was unable to recieve the right info from the solenoids on the valve body.

The auto shifter used to jump to neutral rather than shifting to 2nd

Thought that the ATF level was low (Since there is no way to check the level)

Added Voltronic ATF 9K about 500 ml

Then the shifter simply refused to work. It was constantly stuck in the 1st gear

That burned the plates

Well I recommend that every New Tranny should go for a drain at 30,000 kms

Later it will last for 60,000 Km...but the first should be at 30,000

I did not change till 60,000 since i bought it as a second hand

The valve body was choked with sludge

NO The service centre refuses to dismantle the Auto box and suggests complete change @ Rs 5,25,000

Had a professional job done outside

This is a torque converter based AT or DSG?

And who is this professional who did the job?

^^ The Octavia AT came with a Torque Convertor Auto.

The AT gearbox with the Torque converter comes with multiple clutch plates

Constant usage in the gear 1 (Since the auto shifter was not working) caused the plate to burn out, however the damage was not immense as I noticed that the gears were not changing and the RPM increased simultaneously.

That is when I contacted this guy in Zamrudpur Delhi to help me out

He did take time , however he carried out a terrific job.

I happen to come across this product in youtube by chance and found very good reviews about them in US websites , and also its available in Amazon India.
It gurantees to solve hard shifting , slippage and its a thick non- solvent solution which gives immediate results and does not cause problem to transmission parts.
Product name. - Lucas Transmission Fix

Did any one try this out?
