@Mukesh : It is because the hand brake cable has loosened up and needs to be tightened.

Its a very easy DIY operation which will hardly take 10 minutes.

This can be done by removing the hand brake panel having one clip on each side and then tightening the brake cable till the slack is removed.

This will reduce the hand brake lever travel which will as a result improve the braking.

Can any Swift petrol owners confirm the idling RPM when the engine has warmed up, with and without AC?

My car is idling at 900 RPM with AC and 650 RPM without AC. While 900 RPM is alright, I find 650 RPM idle to be on the lower side. Slight engine vibrations are also present at 650 RPM.

Odo is a little under 29k kms but age is almost 5 years.

If your car also idles at 650 RPM, then there should not be a problem. I was more concerned about idle RPM than the minor vibration. Thanks.

Yes, idle RPM should not be so low. I'll report this issue to MASS on my next visit as my ext. warranty also expires after that and any replacements will have to be paid out of pocket.

On a recent highway journey, I noticed the IRVM used to vibrate at speeds above 80 whether in 4th or 5th gear and as a result the mirror wasn't very usable.

What I also noticed was that the in the few seconds when shifting from 4th to 5th, the IRVM was absolutely fine. The vibrations seemed to creep in only when the clutch was fully engaged, if I had my foot on the pedal when shifting up the IRVM was absolutely fine.

Is it a simple IRVM issue or have the mounts given up ? My car is a Swift ZDI now 8 years old with 66k on the odo.

In my Swift petrol, second gear is not slotting freely while up shifting from first. Second gear can only be slotted by putting the gear shifter to neutral from first.

What could be the issue?

If the other gears slot perfectly, it might be the synchroniser rings that have gone bad on your car. Take it to the A.S.S and get clutch bleeding done. If it still persists, it is the synchro rings on their way out.

- You are having trouble going from one gear to the other, and not slotting from neutral into a gear. It is undoubtedly the synchronising rings. Maruti cuts corners and uses cheap quality materials. It’s a known issue and I’ve had the exact same issue in my Swift diesel. Please take it to any FNG and they will change the rings and it will be absolutely fine.

Yesterday all of a sudden when I started my Swift petrol of 2016, all the power windows stopped working apart from the one on driver side. I am planning to take it to the SA tomorrow, but just wanted to check in and see what could be the potential cause? There is absolutely no sound or movement when I operate the power windows all over the car.
