Re: My "pre-worshipped" Skoda Laura 1.9 PD Ambiente for 7.6 lakhs

Congrats on a lovely Car.

I have driven this particular model extensively few years back, and i am sure you will enjoy driving it for a long time. The ride and the handling with the sweetly tuned Engine just grows on you. and its a breeze on the Highway and will absorb loads of road adulteration without any fuss.

I would like to suggest you to get a complete detailing done. It would enhance the cars looks drastically as well as give the paint more life.

I have not noticed any issue with the AC on my Cousins Car in Bangalore pleasant climate or even AP's hot climate, hence if there is some problem with the AC then take it to an AC specialist and get a complete cleaning as well as conditioning done.

All the best and hope she serves you well.

@raichoudhry: Congrats on the car. I prefer the old nose and headlamps (your car) to the new one: which I feel has lost some of the 'masculinity' due to curvy headlamp treatment which may be seen all the way up to the new Merc C Class.

In a lighter vein, I think by the looks of the car you must address it as "he" and not she.

Congrats Rai. Think that you have got a "steal" at that price. The prices are much lower than the carwale quotes.

Wish you all the best with the car and safe driving.

Thats a sweet deal. The car looks neat and well maintained as well.

Can you please enlighten on what all is covered in Mahindra's 1 year warranty ?

Also do you have any idea of the Skoda shield? Is this available for pre-owned cars like extended warranty? If so, you could try buying it & that could take care of the cost to some extent.

Congrats for the car, i'm sure you'll love the car.
Please keep this thread updated.
Some external pics would be nice.
One question : Does it have HIDs at high beams? (as there are no head lamp washers)

From which mahindra first choice you go the deal. Is it besides the highway coming from rasulgarh towards Iskon ? I've been only to that shop. Next time I'm there, would love to see the car.

Mahindra First Choice has a 1 year warranty package on used cars and specific parts of the engine. One of the conditions of the warranty is that it has to serviced once in every 5000Kms. Apart from that they offer 24x7 roadside assistance in case of a breakdown.

IMO whether one gets such warranty invoked or not is questionable, but it kind of offers a peace of mind to a used car buyer.

Gautam, you must also bear in mind that because of Skoda horror stories nobody wants to touch a Skoda irrespective of the value it offers.

Skoda Shield is not available on used cars. You must also bear in mind that unlike all other major auto makers Skoda does "exchange" its own cars if you want to buy a new Skoda.

You could have uploaded all the above pictures in a single post. Posting consecutively is against forum rules, you know. You did exactly that for the first lot of pics.
Make a request to the mods to merge all four.

Servicing & Wheel Alignment

For the last few weeks Skoda guys had been repeatedly calling me to get the servicing done.

Finally I took time off for the paid service. Here are some pics of the wheel alignment being done-

Re: My "pre-worshipped" Skoda Laura 1.9 PD Ambiente for 7.6 lakhs

Apart from wheel alignment the service guys did engine flushing (Rs.600/-),
Change of engine oil (Rs.3500/-Castrol), cleaning of air filter etc.

The total cost came to Rs.9750/- The next servicing is after one year / 15000 Kms whichever is earlier.

Congrats on the car, and after this service and some civilized running, you should have a wonderful experience to share. I liked the part where you said, 'a Skoda ought to be treated like one. not like a Toyota or a Maruti".

In one of the pics above, what's that thing holding the steering wheel? What was that for and was it helpful? Please elaborate. I normally get my aligning and balancing done outside of the service center for 1/3rd the cost what Skoda charges.

Nice wheel alignment equipment. I haven't seen this manufacturer/model, I usually see wheel alignment equipment from Hunter at wheel alignment centers.

This device is used to hold steering straight during wheel alignment process. Different manufacturer have different designs. Some devices hold steering as well as press brake pedal.
