Honda again (PreLOVED) - 2007 City ZX vtec - 50,000 kms. Update: Car Sold.

Another Honda at home (preloved)

Make Model & Variant : Honda City vtec
Year : 2007
Color : Bluish Silver
No. of previous owners : 1
Mileage : 44k

Background:
After driving Wagon R and Civic extensively heart wanted something between these two segments.
Wagon R is not a good performer on highways and lack of boot is another concern whereas Civic in b2b traffic is a pain (not for driving, to safeguard the car from fellow 2 wheelers and 3 wheelers)

Hunt:
I was looking for a used budget sedan as I don't want to invest on a brand new depreciating asset. Initial budget was around 2 lakhs and zeroed at Lancer.
As you are aware finding a well maintained Lancer is way difficult and mere impossible with this budget. Raised the budget with 50 more grands but no gain.
Then left to UK for my projects and returned 2 months back. Hunt for used car started again with a revised budget of 3.5 lakhs.
Choices:
NHC, Corolla, Lancer, Verna
After a month I lost my hope in finding a decent specimen. Either it clocked 75k+km or abused within 30k km.
Fed up with the monsoon and finally decided to go for a brand new entry level diesel sedan.

Choices:
1) Swift DZire: Perfect VFM. -ve: Waiting period (6 months)
2) TATA Manza: Ruled out as my mom didn't liked the shape and brother was against TASS
3) Ford Fiesta / Mahindra Logan : No offense here, my fiancee ruled out both for the TAXI image

Almost zeroed at DZire VDi and I was about to book the car.

On a fine evening I saw the ad for 2007 City vtec with low miles from our fellow T-BHPian.
Contacted him and confirmed the availability of the vehicle for inspection. On the same weekend test driven and almost satisfied.

Negotiated a bit (no hard bargains as the vehicle came with "T-BHP" batch) and finally paid the advance on a auspicious day and promised to pay the rest and take delivey on 14th Dec. Settled the deal this afternoon and taken delivery with sweets.

Sorry, no time for photographs. Will upload more snaps tomorrow.

EDIT

Very short ownership review
Checked FE today (tank full method) and quite impressed with the figures.
For 27.99 ltr of petrol I have driven 447km, which is 15.97 kmpl.
I could not believe my calculation initially, rechecked and found to be true.
Driving condition:
100% AC and 100% city driving (30% in bumper to bumper traffic and the rest normal driving)
Maintained 2.5k rpm (never crossed 3k rpm) no sudden acceleration / deceleration.
Thanks to the fellow BHPian who maintained this car well.

Likes
-FE (on the top list)
-Ultra light steering (boon for city driving)
-Good mid range torque
-Braking
-"H" & vtec Badge (gives me a smile anyday, one of the world's best piece of engineering)

Dislike
-No ABS (airbag too)
-Looow CG (I'm taking a alternative route which is 5km longer than actual everyday to avoid scrapping the belly against BIG humps)
-Poor low end torque
-NVH is not upto the mark (atleast in rough roads)
-Head lamps are not adequate (upgrade panned)
-OE HU - no comments (but not upgrading as of now)

Going for a long trip this week end (Chennai-Trichy-Coimbatore) Will keep the thread updated with highway FE figures and vehicle stability at 3 digit speeds.

Congratulations, she looks good from the photographs, and a 2007 model with 44k on the odometer, which has been take good care of, will surely serve you for a long long time.

I was surprised after reading that Driving Civic is a pain even though one gets scared about few scratches here and there but they are a reality looking at the traffic and way folks drive.

Congrats! This is one awesome machine to drive in the city.

I took a similar leap of faith last year with a pre owned 2007 city (48k on the clock then, 65k now!) and havent regretted the decision. Its just perfect for city driving and not too bad on the highway either.

Congrats on the car.

Looks like a Clean City ZX VTEC.More details please.

We have a 07 Gxi too which has just completed 80,000kms.Its a very reliable car and really cheap to maintain too.The only expenses apart from the regular 5,000 servicing at Honda A.S.S was chaning the Rear Bearings.A particular batch of the 10th Anniversary Edition had this problem. The Clutch was also changed at 80k.The car still runs like now.

It was my pleasure

It was really nice to know you, and I am glad that I sold the car to you.

Me and my Dad were really sad to see the car go, it really felt like a part of your family has gone away, kindly keep this thread updated.

Wish you many more kms of happy motoring and hope that it brings the same smiles to you as it did for me.

re: Honda again (PreLOVED) - 2007 City ZX vtec - 50,000 kms. Update: Car Sold.

Got FE of 15.6kmpl in highway (against 15.97kmpl in City FE)
Driving condition: Not less than 3 digit speed.

Likes:
-Engine never ran out of breath (even after 150kmph)
-Mom & Dad are comfortable with the rear seat

Dislikes:
-Braking: Only due to absence of ABS. Locked the wheels twice.
-NVH: Road (Tyre) noise is irritating. I could heat even small patches in road
-Steering: light steering pinches the heart at high speeds

Congratulations. After a long time reading a City Zx review that too the vtec. Car looks to be in really good condition, clearly the previous owner still loves her (going by his post).

The ZX had terrific interiors, I feel a tad better than the current city.

Did you try to redline and hear the vtec sound when it engages?

That is some good fuel efficiency figures there, I never managed more than 13 in the city.

I have taken this car to 180kmph only once and it was very scary thanks to the light steering, never did it again.

Thanks dear.
Yet to try the redline (awaiting with eager for a chance)

Light steering is very scary after 130kmph. Once I crossed 150kmph in a light turn and taken off my foot from gas.
