One thing i am curious to know from all EON users:

How is the FE if the gear shift indicator is followed religiously? Also, does this also recommend a shift at around 2000 rpm?(It does so for the Kappa engine)

Note: I heard from my SA here. EON users reporting a mileage of up to 24 on highways and 17 in city. If it is so, then its amazing!!

17 and 24 is too optimistic i feel .
Most users are getting in ballpark of 14 in city . I sometimes get even less than this.

There is no RPM indicator in EON but it feels like the shift advise is at about 2-2.5k RPM .

Hello Mahen,

Congrats for the new Car. I was indeed nice to read your initial review. Also great to know that you are getting good mileage from your new Car. I am sure that once the engine opens up, it will further improve.

I read that you took your car till speeds of 120 KPMH on your drive to Lonavala. Just one piece of advice from my side, hope you don't feel offended, as we are driving a small car, it is generally safe not to cross speeds of 100 KMPH.

One more thing, I know you are quite happy with your car & I am by no means trying to prove your decision wrong. But just for the sake of knowledge, what made you chose EON for Rs. 4.09 lacs when other options like WagonR, i10, etc were available well within your budget of Rs. 5 lacs? Was it only the mileage?

Thanks,

Well, another cut-off fill has given me a 14.9KMPL as average. i think i have settled with this figure a a city mileage with AC ON almost 80% of the time.

I respectfully take your advise. it was just one of instance where we wanted to stretch the car that far. i am not going to repeat the same. Speed of 100 odd max is a good speed for this car only for highways. Within city i have max touched 70 on WE highway.

Jignesh i have answered this question earlier. Yes, Mileage was one main reason followed by good looks, interiors and quality better than that of the Maruti and Tata cars.

^^^ 14.9 kmpl is a little on the lower side for a three cylinder 800cc motor tuned for fuel efficiency. ARAI figure is 21.1 kmpl. It is staggering how almost all Hyundai cars deliver figures which are much lower than the ARAI figures. Our Alto at home consistently gives over 16kmpl in B2B Bangalore traffic with 100% AC.

Hello needforspeed,

Good to know that you are getting 16 kmpl on your Alto in the great Banglore traffic.

But when it comes to Mehan's Eon, it is still a very new car & I am sure that his mileage figues will improve once the engine sets in.

Also as Mehan has also mentioned earlier the he is still a new Driver & thus it will take some more time for him to understand gear shift at right times to attain maximum fuel efficiency.

Thanks,

Got underbody treatment for anti corossion and engine shield treatment done from 3M car care in Borivli, Mumbai.

Well, another run of about 364 Km and it was time to get back for some fuel.
To my own surprise the fuel indicator clicked 22.28 litres until Auto cut-off.
Note that i have been using the services from the same petrol pump and the same outlet everytime.
So, the FE works out to be 16.33
what changed?

Jignesh, thanks for your statements above. I guess i have started to improve as a driver and also the engine is tuning in. Am actually enjoing to drive now.
Is it time to get the TeamBHP stickers clap:

So the FE this time further accentuates my signature line. Would love to hear from other users as well.

Two of my further FE updates are of around 15. So i guess I have settled with this figure mark.

Just enquired about the LPG kit retrofitment in EON from the company, not that i intend doing so but just for information sake.
I was told at Modi Hyundai that the old EON cannot be retro-fitted with any of company supplied LPG kits.
The EON version with LPG fitting is factory manufactured and the kit cannot be seperately procurred and installed in the car.:uncontrol

Hello Hemen,
Interesting information.
EON is launched just 8 about months back, fitting a CNG on this car!! well, what happens to the warranty?
Also how is the power and pick up? this being a 3 pot, 800cc car wont CNG just further reduce power?

Experienced a problem recently, on two occasions, while standing on a slope the gear had shifted from the 1st position to neutral position on its own. I had the brake and clutch pressed but then still this should not have happened. This has not happened before but have noticed this twice in last one week.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong, the gear lever shakes, in case of EON, when the car is standing still but not so much that it changes position.
Anyone else who has experienced this problem?
It is dangerous as when this happens the car not only goes backward but also one is racing the accelerator thinking that the car is in the first gear and will start moving forward and suddenly gets confused.

Visited Hyundai dealership, they are replacing some spares for Eon vehicles which were manufactured before Jan 2012. Hyundai has sorted 90% gear shake issue and the jerky nature of the car.

I test drove the Dec 2011 Car and the June 2012 Car. There is a huge difference is the refinement level, vibration level and the Pickup. Upgrade version is fun to drive.

Hello Gurudatta, this is great news and thanks for sharing it. I will be glad if this problem is resolved. Will take up my car for this check and update back to the forum.
The vibrations on the gear lever have reduced to quite an extend as compared to waht it was when i had bought the car in Nov 2011.
the above problem was however, alarming.
