Nope! As far as I know, suspension components that fall ill cannot be covered under insurance. Insurance covers accidental damage only.
For premature wear of the suspension, the usual manufacturer warranty is what comes to rescue, that too after investigation and approvals based on inputs from the owner and ASC.

Yes, the petrol is not exactly a scorcher on highways, that said 100kmph means 3000rpm, which is almost the same as a Wagon R.
Somehow I get this feeling sometimes that the engine holds back from giving all it has, the car feels reluctant to accelerate hard.
Or maybe its just subjective :rolleyes:

Or maybe it is mapped in that way to reduce fuel consumption? Though the power output on paper is decent, when I drove the Ertiga I had the same impression. Then I thought it could be due to the compulsion to achieve a good FE number for the Ertiga by dampening the throttle inputs. Since its Drive by wire, this is very much possible.

To remind you of who the manufacturer of the Ertiga is, 'Maruti Suzuki' where I they specialise in making cars that are fuel efficient. 'Power' and 'high speed' cruising are such weird that are not in their dictionary. So no point I fretting about performance.
The Ertiga with a puny 1.3L DDiS and a1.4L K- series engine will NOT be a scorcher on the road. The engines are detuned for power and tuned ONLY for fuel efficiency so performance is not be expected out of them.

True Parag. The current ODO is 51K and I have never faced any suspension issues till date :thumbs up
The car was not only used it through only good roads. My regular monthly trips to Hometown is through some all-time bad roads in Wayand. It has also taken lot of abuses while exploring some new routes. I have never heard anything such from my friends who bought the car 3-4 months before mine(12-12-12 is the date I got delivery of my Luv). I will check with my SA and will try to provide more information on this.

Too much a general observation only. How can you call the 1.4L engine detuned when it has a power/litre value close to the swift? Detuned is something different. The 2.5L engine of the innova is detuned. The 1.5L DCi in its 65 Bhp avatar is detuned. Even the 1.3L multijet cant be called detuned either. Remember that on paper, the power output is quite decent enough if not amazing. It is just that in order to achieve better FE, the engine maps would be made very sedate so that even under when floored, the engine will respond gradually only.
High speed cruising? Well Ertiga owners can say better IMO.

I am not saying that the Ertiga in either of its avatars are sluggish and need a lifetime to respond, all I say is the size:power developed doesn't feel adequate to me IMO.
90 PS for an Ertiga and a 105 PS power for Innova that weigh so much is not sufficient to be a bit spirited but it all boils down to FE so power goes for a toss.
My dad owns a 1.3L DDiS Ertiga and I have driven it highway speeds for 100 kms and I loved it better than my Swift in spite being a tall boy. Here the extra 15 PS is making things easier in the Ertiga to keep cruising all day on the highway without getting tired.

Yes Bharat. The ZDi gets a rear defogger along with rear windscreen wash and wiper as well.

On how VDi feels short of Zdi? Here are the things I can recall:
1. Airbags - Driver and Passenger side
2. Driver Side Seat Height Adjustment
3. Steering Mounted Audio Controls
4. Automatic Speed sensitive Volume leveler
5. Different looking (probably additional functions too) Music System
6. USB and AUX Port next to the 12v accessory socket (not integrated into the Music system like VDi)
7. Rear Defogger and Rear Windscreen Wiper
8. Alloys (if one settles for ZDi with Alloys)
9. Outside temperature displayed on MID
10. Tweeters at the front

Adding - and the Pride of owing the top end version of a model :D.
I always set a budget and buy the top most model in the lineup. I am looking to buy a UV and just waiting for the Mobilio and new Scorpio before i zero-in on the Ertiga.
I like Ertiga a lot and the features offered is no way closer to the Indonesian Mobilio.

Oh Yes! That pride one gets is priceless. For everything there is Mastercard/Visa! :D
Ertiga ZDi is a nice car with all features but I fail to understand why NO Auto- Climate Control. Reason for omission is over my head, could be the cost. Can't think of a reason.

I too agree on the highway cruising part. However, city driving makes me mad sometime. The turbolag is the real spoiler.

Not only cost but might be they need some features to show in their facelift and to increse price. They can add climate control + Some stickers + Ertiga badging on seats to ZDI and increase prices by 1.5 lacs.
If Honda launches mobilio in between Ertiga and Innova, Ertiga Facelift, scheduled next year will definetly see price increase by 1.5 lacs for the ZDI.:Frustrati

What will you do if you drive the Swift/Ritz 75PS version?!
Turbo-lag used to make me mad but now I have adapted and understood how the engine and gearbox function so hardly get the turbo lag.
To be frank, I love 'that' lag as there is that boost waiting on the other side to make me grin eat to ear.

In fact my daily driving has ~70 kms of City traffic (Barring 18 kms of Elevated road) and by now I can easily say that the lag is not that bad at all.
I say this not because I have got used to it but have adapted to a driving style to feel the least effect of whatsoever lag the VGT powerhouse exhibits.
Very easy on the pedal till the revs cross 1500 mark, using clutch in idle speeds to lug in B2B traffic (and again using throttle only when the car gains enough momentum) is something that had made me drive this very easily ignoring that there is a lag.
However, give generous tap on the A pedal when lugging in 2nd gear expecting it to jump forward like a Cheetah and it gets you there. So end of it all, being soft on the throttle till a particular RPM (that is when the car also gain some speed in the gear) is the mantra.
