We had bought the Beat as a second vehicle for efficient city drives. But in the short ownership period, I realized that the Beat's strong point, both with respect to FE and drive-ability is on the highways than inside the city. Dad was having real issues with visibility every time and especially in bumper to bumper traffic.More over the FE was hovering around 10, 11 kmpl inside the city which our other car Baleno returned, without issues with low bottom end torque. I have said it elsewhere and will say it again. It is not fair enough comparing the Baleno to the Beat, but the 65 bhp 1.1 IRDE i10 of my in-laws bowled me over with excellent drive-ability and FE inside the city. We have less highway drives and so the driving the Beat was beginning to get frustrating.

Here are a couple of short reviews including the Beat from me.

It would not be fair to conclude the reason without mentioning this. The Beat was bought on loan and the financial developments in the family also prompted us to part with her quicker. Had I not been concerned about the FE of the Beat inside the city, I would have definitely kept her longer. Still, I personally would not have enjoyed the low bottom end torque all along.

I completed my 20000 km service at 1 year & 8 months. I had a mileage test on 4 laned HW for my beat petrol on full tank basis. With 100% AC, rpm at 2200-2400, average (constant at 80kmph) speed, my beat offered 18.6 kmpl . No parts replaced. Fluids were topped up. And suprise, they delivered my car in less than 3 hours!

My Skids with Atom Poison wheel - India's fastest Roller Skate Wheels!
I can't bear seeing him anymore with a rubbish slow rolling tyre after experiencing the performance of Atom Poison at the 50th Indian National speed roller skating event heled at Virar(Mumbai) international speed skating rink . So made a photo illusion gimmick and made him wore a set of poison. Being a true Atom Wheels (USA) Fan!

Excellent! This will probably go down in history as the Chevy Beat with highest kms clocked in India. Buying this car was one thing, persisting with one takes the cake. I very briefly maintained a friend's 2010 LS somewhere around 2014-15. That car was sold at 38,000km on the odo. My friend's only grouse was its low FE, and some corrosion on one of the door frames.

GM's facility went to MG, and I believe strongly that the Apple Green shade in the Comet is inspired by the Beat's Cocktail Green.

Congratulations !!!

My FIL had a beat petrol which had done ~2L kms in 9 years of ownership. I got a chance to drive it at 1.5L mark and remember being pleasantly surprised how smooth the engine felt even after so many kilometres and the car itself was pretty solid. Back then GNCAP didnt test cars but if they did am sure the beat would have been right up there with polo/punto(yes it felt really solid). He got some 1L for the car when he parted ways

He then switched to a grand i10 and understandably he misses the sure footed feel of the Beat and plans to switch to something more solid before completing 5 years. Resale for this should be much better though

Excellent! My 2010 Beat LT clocked 1,14,200 kms today and going strong. Beat is a well engineered car. Not a single rattle or squeak till date. My cars engine opened up post 35000 kms and these days it is just point and shoot in mad South Delhi traffic. Mileage hover around 10.2 kmpl (also due to 175/65 R14 tyres)

Only 1 year and 9 months left for her to be with me due to NGT's stupid rule

Keep going and post a 3,00,000 kms report asap.

Cheers!

Congrats buddy! That is some number! My Beat is on its 60k mark on the ODO! All servicing and checks done, still runs like new! I'm sure your case is the same.
