That's a decent boot. But I see a few flaws:

- The wheel wells do eat into boot-space - so even if the volume is 400 liters, how much of it is actually usable? In the Jazz, one could put 4 weekend-suitcases one beside the other and still have some room left. I don't think you can do that in the Amaze.

- The high loading-lip is going to be cumbersome.

Can't wait to check it out in person.

Honda Amaze E MT Rs. 4,63,230 (P) --> Guesstimate
Honda Amaze E MT Rs. 5,84,230 (D) --> Guesstimate (This is without adding $$$ for 'H' + 99BHP + 1.5ltr Engine)

C'mom Honda you can do it. Amaze us by launching it at 5.99L.

This guesstimate looks very believable in my opinion. Should this be proven true then it will be a killer combo. Diesel engine, decent drivability, VFM price tag...Customers of Dzire, Manza, Etios, Sunny etc can not be spoiled more for choicesclap:

Realistically though, your assumption could be spot on. I am expecting a 6.19L starting price.

Expect 3 models on offer in the beginning - E, S & V.

A real-life pic of the boot space of the Amaze (yes, that floor is removable) -

400 liters + 20 liters of additional space provided as a compartment under the boot floor.

Thank you RavenAvi

Regarding the price range of the car, this is what I had quoted in my post on Page # 6, & yes the boot size as has already been confirmed to be 400 liters is spacious enough even for the Petrol Amaze with the CNG tank (expecting a CNG-ed Amaze variant as well).

Hammerhead ^ , I feel nobody would buy Brio P if Amaze P is just 45k more. I wouldn't. Similarly fir Diesel as well.

Imagine twice the boot space (therefore better CNG cyl.capability), more rear knee room, better rear doors, better rear seats, and a sedan tag - just 45k? I just don't think that's justified. Yes if Brio prices are reduced by 25k then fine :D Honda will be new King of Good Times.

Anyone knows when is the expected official launch date for Amaze in India?

Could well be an introductory pricing that would be heavily used to market the product. After initial marketing is done, they might probably increase the prices step by step. One strategy companies typically use during this introductory pricing gimmick is to create shortage too, there by ensuring they'll have to sell only a fixed number of cars at that price. Probably their advertising department can compensate for the loss or lesser profit from the actual sales.

isn't the difference between Swift and Swift dzire petrol around 50 k rupees? In all probability Amaze will also have a similar difference in price from Brio to be competitive.

If it is costing more than Dzire, it will also be reduced to 'also ran' position, initially it may have sales of 4-5000 but gradually will fall to 2-3000 levels like etios!

This is the calculation I had done while writing the report.

The difference between Swift P and Swift D is around 1.2lakhs. This is the biggest difference between all 3 models.

The difference between Swift and Dzire is 40K for lower trims but goes to 60K for the highest trims.

Now the Amaze is like a Dzire since it's below 4m but it has a 400L boot and looks like a full sized sedan. So I had a look at Toyota.

The Liva and Etios vary by 1L. But for that 1L you get a huge boot, longer wheelbase and incase of Petrol a 1.5L engine outside of the lower excise bracket.

So for the Amaze I took an average of the Dzire and Etios at 80K extra for the boot.

Now apply all the above to the Brio.

Brio P starts from 4.2L and ends at 5.3L for the V MT. If you add 80K for the boot and 1.2L for the diesel you get the following prices for Amaze:

Amaze P - 5L - 6.1L
Amaze D - 6.2L - 7.3L

The Dzire ZDi is 7.4L ex-showroom Delhi.

Now knowing Honda they may charge a 20-30K premium to the Dzire. Even if the Amaze is priced at 6.5L - 7.6L for the diesel it is very good.

Absolutely agree to everything but the premium. Base price of 5.99 will be very lucrative but 6.2 is also good. But top DZire has tweeters & Auto AC, which are not there in top spec Amaze in even Thailand. 7.4 is what Honda can command incl. premium in this segment.

When is the launch date in India .... any clue? EcoSport, Sail sedan are waiting to snap up potential prospects of Amaze.

Another aspect is that unlike Hyundai & Suzuki, lower variant availability on Honda is an issue... City CE, Brio E, Jazz base were like gold a few months back when I was looking at buying a car. So I don't think 6.5 for base diesel will be worth if it is rarely produced & has insane waiting period.

Nice review, but Oh my GOD! Never seen an uglier Honda. Reminds me of the bug eyed verna facelift while it was going through its identity crisis.

Here's some information from the Thai website for Brio Amaze.
Personally i don't like the look of this car - looks just like a local garage mod job.

The price for Thailand is as below:

S MT = THB 454,000 = INR 806,220
S AT = THB 493,000 = INR 875,477
V MT = THB 482,000 = INR 855,943
V AT = THB 521,000 = INR 925,199

Quite expensive for the Indian market (but I am sure they will launch it at a very lower price in India). You can get a city at this price in India agree:

Here's the link to the official website :

(no English version available)

*These days the Thai Govt. is promoting small cars. They have an offer of tax refund (upto THB 100,000) to the first time buyers of any car which has an engine with capacity less than 1,500 cc. (unfortunately, expats like me cannot get the benefit :( )

Cheers!

what is the thai price for swift, brio, Nissan March (Micra) and swift Dzire so that we can compare?

Should we expect a noticeable change in ride comfort, considering that the Amaze has a longer wheelbase when compared to the Brio?

A harsh ride may be somewhat excusable in a hatch..but a sedan demands decent ride comfort.

The ugliest honda for me was the NHC . And the ugliest indian car has to be Swift Dezire ( both generations)

MUL will be forced to add features or drop prices of the Dezire once the Amaze is launched .They will also have to think about something more than simplyplonking a diesel engine into the SX4.

BTW do we know on the expected India launch of the Amaze?
