Congratulations BIBIN004 !
Your Fortuner looks gorgeous in white. Though understandably I am a 'little' partial to silver... and my favourite vehicle colour - black.

Wishing you and the family many happy miles in it.

And thank you for a good, crisp, matter of factly report.

Good to note that you detected the excessive tyre pressure of 40psi in time. It took me a week to get there as the ASC chaps on the date of delivery repeatedly mentioned that they had reduced it - like h*ll they had - finally after a week, on the Sunday routine, wisened up and reduced the pressure to 32psi.
Couple of other points for your attention ( just in case you have missed it):
- Use only standard (sada) diesel, run away from the premium additive laced diesels.
- At the 5 K service (as you have already completed the 1K free service) - in case they haven't, have them to check and if required, torque all the suspension and under chasis nuts and bolts.

Are you from Mavelikkara ? That place sounds familiar - sending you a PM.

Once again good luck and have a fabulous time with your Fortuner and look forward to regular updates here !

Re: KL-31-E-X00X : 2013 Toyota Fortuner, the world is mine

Congratulations on your new acquisition Bibin ! You will never regret having gone for a 4x4 option. There are many people (who do not own a Fortuner) advising that one should go in for a 4x2 for better mileage.

Crisp report - amazing color choice. Like Guderian, my favorite color is also Black. I had booked a Silver Fortuner in May 2011, was offered one in Aug 2011, by that time news of the face lift was out. Did not take the delivery. Then was offered one again in Nov 2011 - did not take it. In January 2012, after Auto Expo, came back and changed the color to Gold Mica Metallic. When the vehicle arrived, there was a Black Automatic right next to it and it was a looker. Switched the color to Black and did not take the delivery - again !. Then the Black arrived. I was very happy and jumping around like crazy... Dad mentioned that he always wanted to buy a Silver Toyota in Saudi. Changed the color again ! Back to square one - Silver ! In all this episode, Total cost of vehicle increased by around 2.7L from booking to delivery. Its a dollar well spent and you will experience the same on your own.

There is a lot of monkey business that I have done in my thread, please let me know if you have any queries on any DIY's I will be obliged to assist.

Happy (s)miles!

Hi Bibin,

Many congratulations on the your superflous ride!

I must say that your car looks awesome and beautiful in the pictures. I want to know if these pictures are from a regular camera or your mobile phone camera? If it is the mobile phone camera, which phone do you use?
The pictures are very crisp and clear and hence this question.

Also, keep posting detailed pictures of your car and the progress through out as I am planning to buy this car upon my return to India this december. So, it will help people like me who are looking for Fortuner as a prospective model/car.

Thank you and Happy motoring!

Sure Bibin. Thanks for the information on Samsung note, as well.

I agree and that is why we all like TBHP!

Also, I am planning to bring an foldable luggage rack for the reach hitch(receiver too has to be purchased seperately) for me to have some good storage space on the long drives.

Have fun!

Re: KL-31-E-X00X : 2013 Toyota Fortuner, the world is mine

Bibin, that's a lovely lovely car (white color suites it best). Although, I always preferred the 2 wheel drive automatic which I read is better to drive (due to light kerb weight). Unless you really plan to use that 4X4, not just to climb over speed bumps, which one of my friend does!
And you seem to have a practical garage, the i10 for city runs and the Fortuner for long trips. Good choice!
And what's that switch in the dashboard, just below the power outlet? It would have been better if it was placed on any free slot near the mirror controls.
I also hear that Nippon does a suspension upgrade (Red Rooster?) to make the drive less bouncy. Have you tried that?

@Rosh- Well I have not tried any 4 wheel stuffs till time since I was in a busy schedule and could not really spend time. However will look forward to do some. Good observation,my friend.Unfortunately the guys at Nippon had fitted the switch to toggle between the stock & Roots Horn on the left hand side & they were giving their own reasons for not fitting it on the right hand side.

Did Red rooster have a Suspsension upgrade.I thought that was a performance kit & Bilstein was the suspension stuff. Anyways the vehicle is in Bangalore now.

I am surprised that Toyota themselves would do that fitting there. And may I ask, why the need to shift between horns? Never thought of that till now.
Yes, you are right. Its not a Red Rooster suspension upgrade, I think they are using Tein suspension. Or maybe Blistein as you said. But I was curious if you tried it, heard the Nippon guys are giving demos on that and they would fit it in Fortuner or even Innova. Some friends said its a night and day diff while some says its not worth the price (heard its around a lakh but I am not entirely sure).

Well I felt the stock horns a little underpowered and hence fitted the Roots Megasonic as well which would do its duty in the highways mostly and also when someone really irritates you in the bangalore traffic as well.

To be frank I never tried the suspension bit. Will check with them next time and have a demo if possible on my next visit to Kerala.Initially Nippon had kept the tyre pressure to 34 and it was way too bouncy.Once it was reduced to 30 psi things were mostly fine.I think I can adjust with it for the time being.
