In Mumbai, a well kept W124 will be impossible to find for less than 6-7 lacs today. Same time 2 years ago, you'd be lucky get 4 lacs for the car.

I have been lusting after your W124 from quite some time. When I type this, I'm already feeling emotional and my eyes are literally damp looking at such an immaculately maintained W124. It's my dream car!

Lucky You.

What a wonderful and entertaining review/explanation on why someone goes after what their soul desires.

It's been a while since you've updated your experience with the German. I hope all is well and He is still at your beck and call, performing and taking care of the family as you knew He would.

Re: "Herr Kampfpanzer" - The unfolding story of my Mercedes E220 (W124)

Hey folks.

It's been a while 😊

Herr Kampfpanzer as he's been affectionately called over the past 9 years or so, is now finally ready to move on to a new home.

Trying to get my classifieds credentials up and restored, and will post details and pictures of the man there shortly.

Re: "Herr Kampfpanzer" - The unfolding story of my Mercedes E220 (W124)

So, the man is up in the classifieds https://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy...enz/W124.html/ to move onto another fabulous home.

In the interim, as I had put him in for a fairly extensive restoration at Mercedes to sort rust etc - another 124 that I had chased for the better part of a decade suddenly made herself available! And I promptly gave into temptation.

I was then left in the (un)enviable position of explaining to my better half of why I should own not one, but two 124's. Lets just say I made a dent in the battle, but did have to lay down arms in the war!

All of his electricals have been sorted, the door locks and the entire vacuum system has had an overhaul, the stereo has been refitted and the antennae is faithfully going up and down finally! All the paperwork is fresh and in order, with Green tax and Registration valid till 2027.

His engine is an absolute peach, and the clutch and gearbox are as buttery smooth as when I first got him. I'm tinged with sadness, but also happy to know that hopefully, he will bring much joy to another soul in the near future.

Hit me up, if one of you is looking for a 124. Happy to chat thereafter.

Cheers fellas.
Peace out.

I see you've got that missing trip reset button added. That shows how well you looked after this beauty. Good luck with the sale and keep us posted on what comes next into your garage.

And the man finally finds himself another great home. Had a super heavy heart but also one tinged with happiness as I saw him being driven away for the final time today. Served my family and me well and kept us safe in the decade he's been with us. May he do the same with his new caretakers.

Goodbye Herr Kampfpanzer and thank you for the memories...
