Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Good review pyrodrive , thanks for sharing. Only ever seen one but only from the outside. Rear seats look pretty comfortable but those switches are pretty awkward in their placement. Wishing you the best!!

Thanks for the comments, guys. Yes the price was irresistible and I feel lucky to have clinched the deal. I will keep this thread updated and any issues I face with either the car or the service will definitely be updated here.
Cheers.

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Rio is practically absent from Delhi roads and NCR maybe due to EURO 4 constraint. However seen some of them in Karnal Haryana. Surly its a head turner owing to compact SUV looks. For 3.5L and done only a little over 4500Km its a steal. Moreover the plastics from the Sun Visors are intact and exterior interior of the vehicle are in Showroom Condition. Congratulations and wish you many safe miles on your new possession. TUD5 if I remember was the engine offered by PAL Peugeot way back in early 90's.

@Pyrodrive, nice review there. Guess the Rio's just right for the hills.

Wishing you a long, happy ownership of the vehicle.

Congrats Pyrodrive for a rare car that you have bought though it is not a problem but makes you stand out and feel unique!

I was in an impression that the Rio came with the 1.3MJD engine but to my surprise it is a 1.5L D and that too RWD!

Congrats once again and wish you happy and long miles on the Rio!

Anurag.

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Congrats Pyrodrive,
This is the first time I am taking a closer look at Rio and I am ashamed that I didnt even TD the car despite it being in my shortlist along with Ecosport and other crossovers. I did like what I saw on an Autocarindia supplement, but the brand and the ownership is what kept me away and ofcourse the nearest dealer being 130kms away didn't help.

Considering your shopping price, this car is a great value buy. I wish you a happy ownership and great drives in it.

P.S. I have seen a red Rio in flesh but the white goes better with the body design and brings out the cladding better.

Cheers,
D.

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

You've got a good deal for Rs. 3.5L

Rio is actually a good package - looks are not that bad. The commitment of the company is the only one thing that one is unsure of. Looks like things are Ok with your dealer

And the vehicle seems just right for your kind of requirements

Wishing you many happy miles and looking forward to reading more about your journeys with the cutesy vehicle

I often see this silver coloured Rio with nice looking alloys here in Shillong and it looks quite cool actually but I never got a close look at the car so thanks for your review there!
Must say you got an awesome deal at 3.5L.

Wish you many happy miles in that unique ride!

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Fantastic!
I've been one of the few people on the forum who has defended this car on most threads, or rather, the few threads.... Oh forget it.
The very few threads and some pages of discussion where it was bashed left right and center.
I always thought that the Rio has tremendous charm, and reading your thread definitely pushes that thought. Congratulations on buying a car with more personality than the majority of the current crop.... Put together.

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Congrats. Surely a little utilitarian vehicle there. I thought the later versions changed to 1.3 MJD ?

Wish you all the miles in the hills!

Yes, the newer ones would have the 1.3 MJD. These should be quieter than the 1.5D. And the 1.5D should explain the noisiness in Pyro's RiO.

...and that engine is one fuel-sipping reliable work horse. Hyundai, Tata, and Maruti used the 1.5L TUD engine in the past. In the forums, Blazinblutz Esteem did over 300,000 km with that engine. We still have other decade-old Esteems powered by the same engine on the roads. Those engines are noisy though, but it doesn't really matter for the folks driving it - shut the windows and turn on the AC.

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Pyrodrive, many congratulations on acquiring the Rio. I guess the Rio was never marketed well and suffered from the Premier tag. The Peugeot TUD is a proven workhorse. The Rio does try to balance the best of both the worlds of a SUV feel and a small size.

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Congrats for the Rio. At the price which you have bought, it seems quite VFM. I especially like the alloy design, simple yet does the job.
I have never seen a single one running in Delhi/NCR. Maybe the P brand is to blame.

Re: The Tall Kid - My Premier RiO 1.5L Diesel

Excellent review Pyrodrive. The Rio is a lovely car, and you seem to have struck a bargain at 3.5 lacs for an immaculately maintained and very sparingly used specimen.

Really makes me want to launch a similar search when I'm ready to replace my current workhorse, but heck at 3.5L, I'd love to have it as a second car too.

Wish you many miles of driving pleasure.
