Checked the Monster at Elite Ford Bangalore.

Model: Ford Endeavour 3.2 Auto Titanium

Observations/opinions:
1. The car definitely has an imposing stance. In isolation one cannot say whether current Fortuner stands tall or the new Endeavour. Though Endeavour measure wider than Current Fortuner, rounded design actually makes it look almost similarly wide or slightly narrower.
2. Front seats are just amazing. Be it the comfort or view, Fortuner stands no chance. The support is also pretty damn good.
3. The finish is definitely class above Fortuner. The materials used exude premium. Most of the buttons are rubberised and are soft to touch.
4. The doors feel solid, in fact rock solid. Sitting inside makes you feel as if you are sitting inside a Tank. The doors close with a solid Thud.
5. There quite a lot of features, many of which even the Ze Germans have give a miss( At comparable price point/segment).
7.The Engine is not a noisy unit , but not a silent one either. However with all doors closed, the noise gets muted to a great extent. Nothing that one should worry about.
8. Middle row comfort- well I felt it is decent. The bench is not as deep as one in innova and under thigh support is also better in Innova. It is comparable to Fortuner. The seat compund however felt much better than both Innova and Fortuner. Definitely not a deal breaker to me.
9. Third row is not that bad, has a little more leg room than Innova. Of course a six footer will not be comfortable, but definitely a shorter person can be accommodated with reasonable comfort for 5-6 hours journey. Getting in there is not as easy as the middle doesnot tumble forward like Innova.
10. One has to literally climb to this monster. If you are used to Sedans, MUV's or mini SUV's, it will take some time getting used to.

And some more Observations:
1. Each door gets lock-unlcok electric button.
2.The Glove box opens in slow motion, neat execution by Ford.
3. Most of the buttons have a soft feel+ chrome ring and are nice to use.
4. Rear seems pretty ordinary in comparison to the front looks. The side profile is good.
5. Every bit in the endeavour screams "SOLID". The boot door hydrualic are thicker than the rods used in Telugu movies.
6. Front Bonnet do get hydraulics. Lifting it without one would have been quite a task.
7. Instrument cluster LCD display looks cool. I am little sceptical about their life span.
8. The aluminium finish door handles add a nice touch. Feels good to use.
9. The Ford Emblem in front grille is of XXL size. Wonder how much would they cost?
10.The driving position is spot on and typical Ford, with commanding view of road, bonnet and the steering is a joy to hold.

Negatives:
1.Getting in to 3rd row is not quite easy. Elderly people are not at all welcome.
2. Expected a little more space in middle row given the size, though there is sufficient space to relax.
3. Rear looks ordinary particularly in Sunset Red. The danger lights get dissolved in red shade, blackening out the brake lights might lighten up things a bit.
4. Somehow felt the foot board is not designed quite well, hence did not aid much in climbing.
5. A little too much chrome upfront(Personal opinion).

Goodbye to my plans as well if the ex-showroom price for the 3.2 Titanium trim is around 35-36 lakhs, At 40 lakhs i will have to think twice, Rather thrice.

^Like i mentioned in my first post here, the rear doesn't look appealing. And coming to the pricing the dealer is still vouching that the high end would be priced around 35 lakhs on the road. But is that worth it? i know its got gadgets and stuff like that, but after couple of years u wanna sell this car, it wouldnt even fetch u 22 lakhs. So i really don't feel putting 35 lakhs is worth for this car...named and successful variant fortuner people would go for used but certainly not this car. Im finally wondering if i should go for the 2.2 AT variant which would come less than 30 lakhs. OR increase my budget and go for a merc C class. All my life I've been driving sedans, this would be first SUV. Before i saw this SUV i was gonna go for a C class prolly after 6 more months of waiting. Any suggestions would definitely be helpful from you guys.

Just got a call from dealer that they have received information from company that Endeavour launch may get delayed by 10 days (may be nearly 31st January)
Hope that's not true.... :Frustrati

Don't think the launch is delayed but may be the commencement of deliveries.

I got a call from Elite Ford Manager this morning, informing me that the Endy is moving to the showroom tonight and will confirm my test drive timing tomorrow. She's said that the pricing detail would be ascertained by EOD.

Ford India website clearly mentions Jan20 as the launch date!

With due respect, I would like to state that it is not appropriate to compare these two vehicles that belong to an all together different segment. I think you should post your query in some other thread along with your requirements. An endy is a proper body on frame truck and will never have the finesse, comfort and performance of a sedan. It is more for off-road enthusiasts with the killer 4WD systems. If you're not one of those I suggest you to look at a sedan or maybe a softroader like Santa-fe or Audi Q3.

Seems Fake. Because I got a message from the dealer to attend the launch in Hyderabad.

This is being quoted from autocarindia.

This is the gist of their review of Endeavour.

"The new Endeavour is clearly aiming for the top. It is the most modern of the crop of traditional SUVs, it has the most luxurious interiors and the new steering and suspension make it a joy to drive, both at low and at high speeds. The Endeavour is also likely to deliver a lot of car for the money. Prices are expected to start at the Rs 24-lakh mark for the 2.2 litre 4x2 manual and stretch till Rs 30 lakh for the top-end 3.2-litre 4x4 automatic Titanium. What really makes it worth waiting for is the fact that it delivers a unique mix of performance, luxury and practicality. And with so many versions and options available, it's more than likely you'll find the right one for you."

Mods please remove the post if it violates the rules.

The Endeavor is launching tomorrow.
