Toyota Innova Z variant is priced at 16 Lac Ex- Showroom , how can FORD price a Brand new SUV at 20 Lac ?? it will be unfair to expect base variant below 25 Lac , If they get too aggressive probably 23 can be lowest in my opinion. Top variant should be about 32-35 as they compete with Prado in overseas market & are launching with almost similar equipment levels in Indian market .

Will be interesting to see how they actually position this- if they are too much dependent on kits from overseas who knows they end up pricing it at 20-25 % premium over fortuner . Given the space ( lack of competition ) in this segment they will definitely find buyers no matter how they priced this . Anyone who can spend 24 Lac on fortuner should be ok to spend an extra 2-4 lac to get this newer generation SUV

Taking on the mighty Prado, no problem at all!
The new Endeavour is impressive

Prado vs Endeavour

My prediction is that the base version (Ex Showroom) will start at 20L, if not slightly lower as a marketing gimmick to get the crowds in - this could also be an "introductory" pricing. With the top end (Ex Showroom) around 30L.

9 days to go, so our wait is not that long :)

I tend to agree with you. Rs 19.99L ex showroom for the 4X2 Trend is what Ford could look at - but again, we are not privy to what exactly Ford wants to achieve out of this model. Are they trying to sell 800-1000 numbers per month ? If not, and their target is only say 300-500 numbers, they should be able to achieve that even with a slightly higher pricing.

Too bad I am not in the market for another SUV :Frustrati

Guys lets be more realistic. Endeavour is a CKD product and not something that is being produced in India with over 90% localisation. Moreover its a full size SUV and comes with plethora of features many of which are unheard off in the segment. I dont see Endeavour being priced lower than Fortuner. Given the Fords interest in Indian market and production capacity I don't see them selling anywhere close to 1000 Endeavours a month.

Now on top of the above, if we bring in the Delhi judgement, Ford has to achieve whatever they target from markets other than Delhi. So will they try to go for the aggressive pricing ? They can because , unlike the Fortuner which has a history of a listed price ( which Toyota may not want to reduce lest affect the brand ), for Ford its a clean slate. So they can afford to deeply undercut the Fortuner. They should do that and then once sales pick up and if the Delhi judgement is revised, they can always start increasing prices.

Delhi only banned until may 2016. So ford would be selling in delhi region from june 1st.

The Autocar Video review is up and Renuka Kirplani is recommending the 2.2 over the 3.2 quite strongly.

http://www.autocarindia.com/auto-vid...ew-399540.aspx

I have seen the Titanium 4X4 3.2L in Mumbai. However I couldn't fire it up. The Car also got damaged after a tempo walloped the Driver Side Door. Very Comfortable overall. 3rd row decent for my height which is 5 feet 6 inches. Couple of Glaring omissions is the lack of a powered Front Passenger Seat, absence of the AC 230 V point in the 2nd row and Grab Handles in the Middle Row ( Titanium Variant ).

Was hoping to see it today again but Ford have shifted it to the Ford Showroom in Nerul which is pretty far, so I have to wait till February for a test drive since I am travelling to the UK next week. If the car does become available again within Mumbai Proper, I shall notify the group of the same

I am seriously considering buying one as my Passat will complete 6 years in April. Not Sure when the 7 Seat Tiguan comes here, but if it does in the near future, I don't mind waiting.

Surprising, though i have not driven the 2.2, the 3.2 Auto was sprinter and smooth. I liked it much above the fortuner AT 4x4 for the smoothness of the gearbox and the engine's responsiveness.

If you listen to her review, towards 7.00th minute of the video, she says the 2.2 is not as fast as the 3.2 but adequate. Probably the lighter weight of the 2.2 4x2 AT made her feel that 2.2 is good. And towards the end "I'd pick the 2.2 over 3.2 because 80% of the time we spend in cities, cheaper and frugal to run" Not an impressive review according me. Not touching the figures on 0-100 comparing both the engines, response time while downshifting; too subjective

Personally I saw it as a biased review. Renuka never seemed interested during the review. Shapur did a much better job at it. The ones from Australia and South Africa are honest. I liked the review from Auto-Portal too.

She was about to sit down next to me a few days ago and I was going to ask her opinion as to whether to go with the 4x4 AT Fortuner or wait for this one...glad I didn't take her opinion.

Did you notice any side-impact beam sticking out on the door that was hit?

Agreed on all these points.

Please do! I am interested as well - maybe we can organize a group to do this...

I don't seeing anything sticking out on the door. I return on the 30th before I head out for the Auto Expo but my contact did state that the Car would be available in Kalina too once its launched. Can't wait for a test drive and more importantly glean info from VW if they provide any about the launch of a 7 seat Tiguan

Shouldn't you be looking at a Touareg rather than a Tiguan - which would be closer to the size/capacity of the Endeavour?

The Touareg won't come with a 7 seat option while the Tiguan will come in with an extended wheelbase version for the 7 seats.

Most importantly when..if I do go for the Endeavour then I would definitely want to switch to the 20" Tyres, I feel the 18 inchers are small

Exactly my thoughts! How many would buy this ford for using it inside the city? People actually have secondary car's as hatchback just to use in the city and they prefer keeping their SUV's for the highway runs, Not an impressive review according to me as well.

Really loved the effort she had to take to get inside the car though. stupid:

^Well it goes you guys got it all wrong. Honestly, how many fortuners do you see on the roads? They run like autos these days in cities. I bet my bottom dollars, 50% of those fortuners haven't ever seen a toll gate ever. My neighbours for that matter have never used their SUVs both, fortuner and range rover for their highway runs. So I completely support her review. After driving the car myself the other day, I feel the 4x4 is too laggy! In terms of gearbox. You don't feel the engine unless you switch to 4th gear. What are the odds of shifting into 4th gear in city traffic these days? Come on guys, give her a break! What she spoke is completely practical in every day conditions and I feel 2.1 engine is good for city driving with that kind of gear box. And btw, for all people who are calling her review biased, come on why on earth would a review be biased? What is the advantage she is getting out of it? You guys have no clue about how this car drives in first and 2nd gear for such a big engine. Hence her conclusion. I am also planning to go for the 2.1 AT with titanium trim level.

I am not trying to give her a bashing. I am just stating what I read through her body language. I have not taken a test drive and my view might change once I do. That said some reviewers have not felt the 4 X 4 laggy but then its all down to personal opinions and driving styles. She just seemed disinterested to me in the review thats all. Sounded more like the "The Fortuner isn't here so lets not be too appreciative right now." Ford has a winner on its hands and no car is perfect. Service and Post Sales will be the biggest challenge for them

The Tiguan is slated for a Mid 2016 Release with a 7 seat option according to the latest edition of What-Car I received today morning. If the update does turn out to be true, I might just play the waiting game.

Peace.
