re: My Maruti-Suzuki Baleno Zeta Petrol | Now Wolf'd | 6 years & 42,000 km done Wolf Remap Done !
Wolf team had come to my house in Manipal to remap Baleno. Rajiv, the tuner was not present. It was their first time Baleno remap. All my cars have been first time for the tuners .
Wolf were confident about remap as they have done many previous gen Swift 1.2. But things were not smooth. Baleno ECU was slightly different compared to old Swift. Old swift has Bosch ME17.9.62 and it was Me17.9.64 in Baleno. CMD tool did not have protocol for Baleno ECU. This was a major setback. But we had some hope because the processor (TC1724) was same in both ECU's. Problem was connections were not known.
Wolf Team were trying their best to sort this out. I remembered that Akshay from GT Tunerz has almost all the ECU tools in world. I called him up and explained the problem. He readily agreed to help us and one of his tools had wiring diagram for Baleno ECU. He sent it to me. Wolf Team worked on it and finally cracked the Baleno ECU to work on CMD. We were able to successfully read the file. I felt so relieved and confident that Rajiv would do a good tune now.
I get a call from Rajiv and he was quite shocked. According to him, Baleno was already running with much advanced timing compared to old Swift. I was like Oh crap, then the potential is much lesser. Cars with retarded timing from factory responds very well with minor advance. Anyways we decided to test few maps. Map 1
I just took the car out for a spin and it was so slow. It was so disappointing. Throttle response was blunt and car was singificantly slower than stock.
I told the same to Rajiv and he was not surprised. He told me to try another map. Problem is stock map already has such advanced timing compared to Old Swift and it's tricky to advance it more. We will lose power going above optimum ignition timing. I really don't understand how Maruti claims similar power figures Map 2 :
This map was lot better than previous one. Throttle response was sharp. Engine note was also slightly more aggressive. But the car feels slightly slower in full throttle, its much better in half to 75 percent throttle. Wolf has asked me to drive few more days and try Reliance Petrol. They will give me an update soon. I would say I am satisfied with the current map but it could have been better. My request to raise the rev limiter was also not met. Anyways Wolf Team has been supportive and tried their best. Let's see how it goes. Few Pics :

ECU Out
ECU Opened

Tuned File Write Successful
Wolf Stage 3 CR177 Polo 1.6 TDI( What a car this is , Performance is too good..they need to work on dynamics )
A friend dropped in with his Abarth and was out with Wolf Map in just 15 mins ( This is not fair haha) Special Thanks to Akshay from GT Tunerz Delhi once again. This guy is super helpful while majority of the tuning industry just bad mouth each other. Hopefully Wolf can work more on Baleno maps and perfect it. Waiting to test few more maps after their Goa trip!! |
