That's interesting! I was using the Castrol TQ (pwr steering oil) in the Mark 4 I had. It was the Toyota GB though. Currently using the regular 90 in the MarkII. Me too will be switching the oil soon.

Any clue as to whether this sort of rear glass came off the HM factory line or is it just a mod job?

Sorry to hijack your thread, I couldn't find any other active thread to clear my doubt.

This is a mod-job. I remember seeing 1 or 2 such examples in Tamilnadu. The glass used is basically the front windshield. To get the dimensions right, a new front windshield frame is trimmed and welded to the rear side and front glass is fitted straight, without any problem. This gives a very roomy look too.

Re: Acquired Passion - 2007 HM Ambassador MPFI

A lot has happened in the last 30 days.
- Added mirrors from the Nano
- Added IND plates
- Added a new speedo for my love of Trip Meter
- Changed the plug wires and flushed the Radiator.

Last weekend, had been to the farm house of Bhpian Aditya Hemmige, along with DBhpian Parag, Deepak and Chethan. We had a jolly time around the river banks and got a chance to ride on Aditya's 70's Massey Tractor. Here are some pics:

Re: Acquired Passion - 2007 HM Ambassador MPFI

I had installed the Transcend dash cam on my Amby. Some of the videos are below:

1) Drive from farm house to the River

2) Soft roading on river banks part 1

3) Soft roading on river banks part 2

4) Cruising on the 4-laned Bangalore Mangalore highway

Being 5 people in the car(except video 4), there was too much chatter, hence replaced stock sound with audio track.

Loved reading your thread buddy. Glad to see your passion for restoration if Indian classics. Loved the pic where both fiat and amby are parked together. The amount of time money and hard work you have put in is really commendable.
Wishing you niggle free ownership experience.
Which is next car in line? Contessa may be ?

Re: Acquired Passion - 2007 HM Ambassador MPFI

Excellent article funkykar, I need one suggestion from all of you. I am looking for a amby with PS and AC to ensure i am practical in driving in bangalore traffic and i have come across one diesel amby ( 2003 yr , 2 Lt ISUZU engine with PS and AC mint condition) and one more 2006 yr 1.8 Lt Isuzu with PS and AC. In view of maintenance and upcoming emission norms can you suggest which is a better option. Both are very good condition and price is also similar.

Please advice. I need to pay a token advance in a day or two.

Re: Acquired Passion - 2007 HM Ambassador MPFI

The 2.0 is a good engine, yet it's a diesel and noisy. Its much better than other diesels of its era and undoubtedly the best diesel that came from HM.

The MPFI petrol would be a power-packed engine and a joy to drive. The MPFI on this is not very mature and often prone to problems. These are problems not understood by most mechanics and they hate to work on MPFI Ambys. Rest assured parts are very difficult too. Its a gas guzzler too. I would prefer the carburated 1.8 ISZ if I had a choice and would be the best choice. They are hardly available.

Between the 2 options you have, if you don't really mind diesel, go for it. What emission norm may come in future for old cars, no one can say.

Re: Acquired Passion - 2007 HM Ambassador MPFI

Oh that’s good to hear ... since it’s a TN vehicle it has to be registered in KA I hope this is not an issue for BS III since it’s a transfer and not a new registration.

Re: Acquired Passion - 2007 HM Ambassador MPFI

Hello funkycar,
Can you kindly let me know the contact details of your amby mechanic. My amby needs some urgent maintenance work and when enquired in Jayanagar many are not comfortable working on an amby...

Hi funkykar,

Congratulations for one of the coolest cars ever. I was hoping you could share anything you know/ have heard on where one can find a post 2010 petrol Ambassador in Delhi today, and the approximate price they go for.
