Did you manage to recover the 17" wheel investment? Was the resale value within your expectations? I'm also bitten by the upgrade bug hence asking.

Yes. Used it a lot during the short period that I had it for.

Not really, the 17" wheels and PS4 tyres didn't add much value to my car resale value. I got around 1 lakh lesser at least than what I would've gotten if I sold to a direct buyer. I sold it to a re-seller since I had to close the deal sooner to get the other car.

My situation was a bit tougher to judge too since it was fairly new but had crunched a lot of miles so it isn't the easiest to value I guess. What are you thinking of upgrading to?

Thanks a lot for the info buddy! I have welcomed a Petrol L&K in my family and hope to have a wonderful time with it, as you.

I hope what I have written above has helped answer your question

Wildly swinging between the following:
1. An even bigger sedan (Superb L&K, Passat Highline with DCC) - was hopeful of the Superb Sportline coming in the 4x4 272 hp tune
2. Monocoque SUV - Skoda Kodiaq especially if they introduce the 190 hp tune
3. Wait for the MY19 Octavia vRS expected to resume bookings in Jan 2019. There is a strong rumour that the the current RS230 engine will be retired and the only engine will be the range-topping RS245.
4. BMW 330i if and when any discounts come in on the F30 range

Totally confused. What did you go for?

Sandeep sir went for a new BMW X1 xLine sDrive as a replacement for his Octavia 1.8 TSI.

Hi Sandeep,
Congratulations, I am also planning to buy L&K variant TSI automatic. What's your experience so far? I am especially not sure of how the drive is going to be in Bangalore traffic condition.

Anand

Hi Anand,

Did you go ahead with this purchase? Is there a link on your initial ownership review? Since I, too, am currently vacillating between the New Civic and the Octavia 1.8TSI.

Cheers,

What are your needs like? Based on that, could advise on whether the Octavia is the right choice or not. That is assuming that you haven't already gotten your new ride yet. In which case, congratulations and please let us know which one you went for

Hey thanks a lot, Sandeep!

Based on my assessment during the TD, I went ahead and booked the Octavia 1.8 TSI Style. Now waiting eagerly for the delivery.

Cheers,

You're welcome! Congratulations on the booking. I'm sure you're super eager to get the car. I didn't realise the waiting period is that long now. In 2017 when I booked mine, it was around 2 weeks. I still miss my Octavia and I had many wonderful memories driving it. Looking forward to your ownership report on the same.

Congratulations! Honda Civic has brilliant road manners, a very direct steering but when it comes to power it lags well behind the 1.8 tsi. If only Honda would have offered their 1.5 ivtec turbo (Civic Si tune ) in India it would have matched the Octy TSI in performance. But for Honda, India is a dump yard where they can unload their 'kachra' like the decade old 1.8 ivtec and still expect it to do great sales.

Right now the Octavia 1.8 tsi sits well above the Civic 1.8 wrt performance as well as FE, so no competition at all.

Hope you have taken extended warranty for the infamous DSG 😬

Hope you have enough grins in time to come with your new beauty!

Thank you so much!

Haha, yes I have opted for the 6-year extended warranty (55k extra) as well as the B2B maintenance package (123k extra). The only thing not covered is battery, tyres, and damage due to rat-bites.

So as per Skoda Autobahn, ideally first 4 years all I'll have to pay for is fuel, barring a battery failure/tyre damage. Let's see how far it holds true.

Also planning to get the 3M anti-rodent treatment that was detailed in the brilliant vRS review by @nikhilb2008.

Cheers,
