Kungfu Panda gets another wash, and a liberal coat of collinite.

re: S-Cross'd : My 2017 Maruti S-Cross 1.3L Facelift. EDIT: Sold!

I got the older S Cross last year from Nexa Kharghar. The caffeine brown shade is the best of the lot. Overall the buying experience was good. Atleast far better than the TATA cars buying experience I had before. The S Cross is the best in Maruti's stable. I am quite impressed with the performance and ease of driving. I just wonder how would the 1.6L have given in terms of performance in comparision. Alas! we would never find that out since MSIL has stopped that engine. The mileage is quite impressive from day1 and it has been keeping up the figures intact.

re: S-Cross'd : My 2017 Maruti S-Cross 1.3L Facelift. EDIT: Sold!

Kungfu panda is back to its den after a home run.
First 765Kms saw a mileage of 17.89kmpl, next 230 saw 17.24kmpl and the last 837 saw 16.1 kmpl.

Overall 16.96 for 1832 Kms of highway runs, that too spirited runs.

The last stretch saw some steady aggressive speeds, and made i20, City idtec run for cover. Kungfu Panda indeed is no slouch

Another 400Kms he finishes 10K and goes for his third service, but he stays parked for a month due to my business travels.

Holding well till now, 5 months and approx 10K Kms

Finally, after taking delivery of my 1.3 Zeta on March 19th I had an opportunity to take it the first time for a weekend trip. The total distance covered is 900 km. A few observations about the car.

1. The ride quality is great. I didn't feel fatigue even after driving for 300+ kms non-stop.

2. The car is pretty steady at very high speeds. Manoeuvring lanes at this speed gave a lot of drag so its not advisable to try high speeds on narrower roads.

3. The shock absorbers are of good quality. Bumps are not an issue. Braking is really efficient.

4. First and second gear gives a lag but as soon as RPM crosses 2000 the lag disappears and the power of the engine can be felt. Engine noise is minimum and AC is really effective.

5. The only doubt I have is on the average part. Most of the times I drove the car at 90 kmph. There was a lot of driving in the city too but 80% of the drive happened on NH 44. The car gave the mileage of 16.9 kmpl which I think is less. I would be grateful if anyone can confirm if this is normal.

The car is going for its first free service tomorrow morning. I shared the low mileage issue with the service manager to which he said he will check the same. Any specific issues that I need to raise during the service? If yes, please tell me which ones.

I have also seen a few posts regarding thermostat issue with the car. Is this applicable to the new one also or just old S- Cross? Thanks in advance. This is a great forum

Isn't the average less as compared to company claim of 24? I also got similar average at quite modest sppeds. My car did first 1000 kms today.

For the first 1000 kms I had driven mine at an average speed of 60 kmpl. You can refer to some useful tips here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/owning...r-new-car.html
My average was always around 20 kmpl with my old version of S Cross.

As for the first service expect nothing more than a wash. If you have specified any issues then also ask for what the SA did regarding its resolution. Do have a look at their offers regarding service. I got a good one which has regular alignment and balancing at no extra cost and some more which I don't remember now.

Laluks do you practice the idle rule for the turbo? If so do you always idle before switching the car off or only after long drives?

If you stay in a place where parking the car and taking it out involves few reverse and forward maneuvers or driving in a basement, it is more than good to do these tasks with Idle speeds and that wont need idling the car further after you are fully stationary.

In fact, that is what I normally do whenever I park at home as I need to drive in the basement for 100 meters, reverse and park and that takes a minute easily.

When taking the car out, I need to climb a ramp and I do that in idle speeds too in 1st gear and that takes care of the the idling rule.

It is only on highways after a super good (and long) drive where I actually let the engine idle for a minute at least. Now If there was a toll booth where my wait was for over a minute, and I stop soon after this, I shut down immediately.

Adding to what parag had said, I do this.

I start the car, then check out on my maps and amazon music and set the play list. This easily takes a few minutes and it helps the idling while starting.

Same way when I stop, i have to unplug my phone, close all the app that was open like music and android auto and then I stop the car. This is the idling time at stop.

re: S-Cross'd : My 2017 Maruti S-Cross 1.3L Facelift. EDIT: Sold!

Sale figures for the month of March 2018 are at 3,900+ units. Expecting a couple of new members with their reviews. This is an approximately 11% month on month jump. I think S Cross can enter top 20 by volumes in the next few months.

My car has done 1800 kms. The drive is really smooth. The mileage part has been a disappointment. I expected the car to cloak at least 20 KMPL but its still stuck at 17.4. Any suggestions/reasons as to why this beautiful elephant is struggling there.

Mine is 20% city ride and 80% highway ride.

I am back guys. Had been traveling extensively on business in Europe.

I saw a nice SCross with sunroof in a good shade of red color in Vienna. Absolute stunner it was.

Probably it was this shade, but in sun it was looking gorgeous

Picture - from internet.

Had it been here, probably this shade would have got many prospective buyers.

And Kungfu panda gets to run around after few weeks of rest. 10K service coming up soon.

Even in the small pic that paint looks expensive!

Am I imagining this, or are metalic/pearlescent/etc finishes quite a lot deeper and more luxurious in other countries? Are they victims of Indian cost-cutting?

My reply on the other thread. I so wish we have a single S-Cross thread so that we all can post at just one place.
