Re: Driven: BMW M5 (F90)

The F90 featured in Grand Tour season 3 - here's a clip I could find in YouTube. It ranked the second fastest in their current list!

Well after having an extensive drive of the E63s too, which is a quite a monster in its own right.

So BMW has sold the same car we were driving, and it went in an auction with a reserve price of 90l, which is quite a deal. I'm sure it actually sold well over that, but its still quite a steal as compared to a new car, and the condition considering it was a media car was rather good.

Correct and that car is coming back to Mumbai. There was another Blue M5 that was on offer at reserve price of 95 lac and from what I hear from my contacts, it’s gone at over 1,20. I won’t be surprised as one of my knowns had bid 1,11 and he lost.

Re: Driven: BMW M5 (F90)

This is my dream car. I will own it in the decades to come. It just gets hotter, much beautiful and much desirable over time. I don't have to talk anything about its power or abilities, but just look at those seats, the color of interior, that fit and finish, those lit speakers.

This review is a feast to the eyes and the heart.

You can either get a carbon roof or a sunroof. Mist people order a carbon roof. There’s no extra charge. It’s more of a novelty factor to me, hardly any weight savings.

Maybe it can hold better in case you turn upside down. Very few have ordered M cars with sunroof.

I shall wait for the 2021 updated model. It has sharper lines and looks smarter. Can't wait though to experience the exhilarating acceleration of the M5!

I hope the ground clearance is high enough to clear the jumbo speed breakers in our country. Does it have skid plates for under body protection for the engine, exhaust system and the fuel tank?

Custom X-pipe Installed on my F90 M5

Hi guys!

It’s been quite a while since I posted on this forum. Last time was with my 2007 BMW M6 and 2011 335i which were both modded to taste.

This time around, life is a bit different

I have a 8 year old daughter and now also a 21 month old boy. So, turns out, Coupes are not the best way to handle these new “requirements” in life.

So my wife and I ended up with a different solution for our daily driver cars.

I got myself 2018 F90 M5 and got my wife a 2019 X5 xDrive 40i, pretty much at the end of 2018 calendar year.

We are able to have the family together on trips and have good practicality.

However, as pretty much perfect as the M5 is for my needs, I can’t leave well enough alone always.

So I got a custom X-pipe installed. This deletes the large resonator in the middle section of the exhaust. It opens up the engine sound further while also giving a slightly better throttle response. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

Here are some pictures of the install:

See how I managed to convince my wife to sort of match the color of her car to mine

For the 2021 LCI, I like the new tail lights but I definitely am not fond of the front headlight redesign. The halo lights have turned into ”L” shaped lights. Also the main front opening on the bumper has become more subdued.

I think, I will likely switch my M5 for the M8 Compeition Gran Coupe in about a year or so. Also planning to change the X5 to an X7. Till then, we are really enjoying our current cars!

When I was shopping for my M5, I also test drove the E63. Even in full comfort mode, the ride was way too harsh. There was little difference between comfort and other sport modes for the chassis. I didn't like that, though I really loved the exhaust soundtrack and drama.

On further evaluation, I needed a daily driver and I honestly wanted a more tame car that didn't draw too much attention when I went to my office. Also, with a newborn baby and family in the car, the quality of the ride in comfort mode was very important. It is the same reason I didn’t go for the M5 Competion model at the time. The ride was slightly too firm for family, but great for an individual drive experience.

Anyhow, after a year and half plus of ownership, I find that I am alone 95% of the time in the car. Hence, when I switch out to the M8 Competition Gran Coupe, Ill be ok with the slightly firmer ride.

Cheers!

Re: Driven: BMW M5 (F90)

Fellow members, apologies for waking up a dead thread, but want some serious suggestions, off late been pondering upon getting a Z4 m40i, was discussing with a close car maniac, and he suggested why not replacing my 530i with a M5, though it'll still cost more than just acquiring a z4 40i, but he knows I use my cars and not just as show pieces, the Z4 after a point might just end up being that, so I wanted to ask, do you seriously think on our roads a M5 can be a daily drive? and is the S63/68 (Hot V) a reliable engine? and what would you suggest replace the g30 530i with a F90 M5 or add a Z4 40i
Thanks
