Re: My 2019 VW Golf GTI DSG (Rabbit Edition)

Third oil change:

Third oil change happened last week at 8746 miles. 3751 miles in 10 months is the lowest i have clocked in any of my vehicles, thanks to covid. It would have been a lot lesser had i had not taken the vehicle out for frequent joy rides along the nearby country roads.

Dealership charged $100 for synthetic oil change and tire rotation and i had a $20 coupon. I have fuel line rattle issue on the passenger side which should be fixed under a TSB. Also i have intermediate issues with passenger door unlock sensor. I will most likely take care of these issues later this year as the dealership wanted the vehicle overnight to diagnose the issue.

Other than these minor issues, the vehicle is pretty solid and i am very happy with it.

Nice car! I am also a VW owner from US, this is a pretty solid platform to mod.

Look at EQT instead of APR.

Thank you. I am more interested in JB1 or 4. I have not considered one seriously as i didnt want to get into that black hole now!

Re: My 2019 VW Golf GTI DSG (Rabbit Edition)

I drive a 2015 Golf R (DSG) and currently running JB4 map 2.

If you don't want to mess up the warranty, go that route. People are extracting 100+ whp on map 6 with meth kit.

I don't want to go to map 6 at the moment. map 2 with res delete give me enough punch. My conti dsw 06's (235's) doesn't have any traction till 2nd gear under WOT with traction control off.

Will be adding a catted downpipe sometime soon and I might settle there temporarily.

Edit: Just saw your garage, I used to have Durango R/T as well. Same taste ;-)

Yeah one of the main reasons for getting a MY19 was for the warranty. Once i get a JB1/4, it is going to be a rabbit hole. So i have stopped with tires and exhaust as of now.

Golf R with a JB4 is going to be a fun DD and you have a lot more to extract from this platform. Which DP are you looking at, I am very happy with AWE products on both of my GTIs. I was seriously considering their DP on my previous GTI, but didn end up buying as i sold the vehicle shortly after that. Are you active in VWvortex and GolfMK7, i have same username in those forums as well.

Its good to see another tBHPian with almost similar vehicles in a different country

I have same username in vwvortex and golfmk7. I usually don't post much, but pretty active in reading stuff, lol.

I will go for AWE catted mostly (that thing is bloody expensive at $1600 or so). But that is the only catted DP guarantees no CEL (other one is the neuspeed - which is discontinued now). I hear good things about IE as well.

Here is a pic of my ride.

AWE products are definitely expensive but well worth the premium. Their quality and customer service is top notch. I vaguely remember coming across a thread towards the end of last year that companies have stopped building MK7 DPs due to gov restrictions. Not sure if its a real issue.

Yes, EPA is cracking down use of catless DP's (even sales as well) - they fined modded euros $60k for selling CTS catless dp's. That is why everyone went catted (and APR went one step further by killing DP's from the lineup and also Stage 2 s/w support).

Re: My 2019 VW Golf GTI DSG (Rabbit Edition)

I have not updated this ownership thread for a while and here is a major one.

With crazy used car prices post covid, I ended up selling this one in the summer of 2021 with a plan of replacing it with a proper performance vehicle. I tried several online retailers and Carvana gave me the best offer. I could have got a little more by selling it privately but I didnt want to go through the extra hassle. Even after owning it for almost two years and clocking 10k miles, I ended up getting more than what I paid for.

This vehicle will be dearly missed from the garage for several reasons.
  • It was a limited edition and had the right combination of options (blacked out exterior, traditional plaid seats, no sunroof, minimal driver assist features, no major issues or recalls, 6 year 72k mile warranty from factory) within the entire MYs of this platform.
  • It was built in the same timeframe when my son was born and he experienced his first 10 hour roadtrip when took delivery of this vehicle.
  • And finally, my TeamBHP membership was approved (after a 10 year long wait) on the day of taking delivery of this vehicle.

Owning two MK7 GTIs in the past, I love this platform and dont think any other vehicle in the market offers higher fun to price ratio. One doesnt have to spend tons of money to have a fun vehicle which is extremely practical as well. In addition, one can find plenty of support from reputed aftermarket companies to explore the complete potential of this platform.

With its garage mate
