Hi Shashi,

Your thread is a wealth of information and I keep following diligently even though silently!

Would you be able to tell me if I can only upgrade the suspension for my 2020 XL6 Zeta AT? Would the wheels look too puny if I leave them at 15 and upgrade only the suspension? My SA tells me that my rear suspension is starting to go along with the bearings, so was thinking of upgrading to the new XL6 suspension since it seems so much better.

Hi Leoshashi,
Some of the parts I ordered via the nearby MASS for the wheel swap on my car have arrived. But unfortunately, the rear shocks were in short supply and only one piece has arrived.

The alloys too are out of stock with Maruti at the moment and will take 3 more weeks minimum is what they told me today. The works manager asked me to try and order the 16 inch alloys on Boodmo instead.
I haven't ordered anything on Boodmo yet and have no clue about their policies. Is it as smooth and reliable with return policies too as other online platforms like Amazon Prime and Flipkart assured?

I'm hoping to place an order today itself if possible so things don't get further delayed.

The tyres too were not in stock in town. I've ordered them too and they should be here in another two days, I too am going for the same Continental UC6 based on your feedback.

Thank you so much for helping me out with your inputs here.

Yes the stock wheels would look too puny and worse since the ride height will be significantly jacked up. Also not sure how would the ride/handling balance be affected.

If the part is indeed in short supply at Maruti then I doubt Boodmo will be of any help here since they too have similar vendors and sources.

The site is reliable and there shouldn't be any return/refund related issues IMO.

The alloys were in stock on Boodmo and I have placed an order for them. Delivery time shown was 11 days and there were two sellers there who had stock, the other seller had a delivery period of 13 days.
I also tried to order the new rear shock there but couldn't since I got no results after typing the part number and it wasn't to be seen in the OEM catalogue list as well. Only the first gen shock was listed.

Thank you again.

Having photo doesn't mean it's in stock, it just means its listed. If the part is in stock, it will be dispatched within a day.

You mean to say they take orders and payment first and only then check if it's in stock?
The status of my order is still in the 'processing' stage. I've also ordered the wheel centre caps and saw a 64 left in the stocks number displayed. But I didn't see anything like that in the details of the alloy.

Yes, the alloys aren't in stock. For such items, order is placed with vendors/sellers and then it reaches you after 2-3 weeks.

I think the newly launched Grand Vitara's alloys also would look good on the XL6. Not sure if it would fit though.

Would fit with optimised profile tyres, but surely not recommended for a people mover.

I've received all parts now except for one rear shock absorber and the alloys. Boodmo is still in the processing stage for the alloys and they delivered the wheel centre caps today. I got the UC6s two days back. It came at ₹8300 a piece and they all are of 20-26 Dec 2021 batch.

Hello Leoshshi,

I bought XL6 AT Alpha+ Grandeur Gray on 14 Jul 2022 (please note the date! Also billed on 13 Jul). Done mostly city driving till now. My previous vehicle was Innova (manual) which I owned for 15 years and sold recently because of ban on petrol vehicle older than 15 year in Delhi.

Since I have now become a senior citizen, I do not feel the lack of 'punch' in XL6 acceleration visa vis Innova/other 'turbos'. It is the perfect vehicle for sedate careful driver - which now I have become!

I plan to go for a road trip in this month and will update the highway experience.

This forum had been immensely helpful to me in deciding for an AT MPV. I switched from Innova to this for 2 main reasons - cost and FE.

The following points which decided it for me:
  1. Reasonably priced MPV with all the safety features and good fuel consumption. I was not really impressed with Smart Hybrid feature but Auto Engine off at signals is a very good.
  2. Good height and space for driver with 6 axis seat adjustments, steering tilt and telescoping. My height is 6 ft 2 inch with long legs.
  3. Vehicle height and stance is pretty good due to 16" wheels making ingress/egress easier.
  4. The door edge height is quite low (absent in Innova) compared to say Carens/Creta - this again makes it comfortable for older people to get in and out. Same goes for the Captains seats in 2nd row and the really huge 2nd row doors.
  5. Ventilated seats are heaven sent for Delhi summers.
  6. All the control sticks, buttons, cabin design are almost a replica of Innova. No learning curve for me except graduating to AT from manual which is a no-brainer after 5 minutes.
  7. Cruise control was something new for me. I used it once only in city on a really long flyover to keep my speed constant at 60 KMPH. There are multiple speed cameras and I had been challaned previously for over-speeding (63 KMPH!). I think this a good use of cruise control.
Some observations:
  1. I am still getting used to the music system. I am no audiophile and I find the system quality serves my purpose.
  2. Suzuki Connect is a creepy feature. It logs all your trips!
  3. As per manual, I should be able to get to Android auto using ONLY Bluetooth from an android phone. However, I need to connect through USB cable for this feature to work.
  4. Manual mentions Smartplay Pro Sync app for updating the firmware. But I could not find it in Play Store.
I will raise these issues when I meet some 'engineer' in the workshop during the 1st service. The showroom staff is mostly clueless.

This is my first post and I hope to be reader and sometimes contributor to this vibrant ecosystem.

I have a query. The odometer in the picture shows the Odometer reading as well as the Trip A meter reading in 2 lines.
My display shows only one line with odometer reading OR Trip A OR Trip B. I tried various permutation of buttons but to no avail. Is this 2 line display available only in the previous model? Or is there an arcane way to get it going in this model too.

Attachment 2333280

I searched a lot in this forum as well as the internet but did not find any pointers or a solution. Nexa people were quite clueless too. So, either they removed this feature in current model, or it requires some setting / programming to turn it on. Do explain, if it is the latter. Thanks.

In my internet search, I in fact stumbled on an undocumented way to switch OFF the DRLs!
Though it is STRICTLY NOT RECOMMENDED due to safety reasons. But if you want to go in stealth mode for some reason then this might help.

Android Auto requires wifi direct to work wirelessly which only comes in highest model or highend cars, bluetooth works fine only for taking calls.
you could get AAwirless attached if you want a complete wireless expericence.

Congratulations on your new ride. I am interested in the odometer fix as well if someone has some insights.
Apart from this, I am keen to know if the music can be turned off without using the mute button. It is pretty lame to have the HU always playing FM or AM.

Thanks,

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

LeoShashi,
Thank you for starting this thread. Your knowledge on XL6 is unmatchable. You are the Bible. And the way you represent and explain step by step with images, that’s marvellous. I have started loving to explore my car as I started reading this thread. Its huge thread - 76 pages, but every page is full of information and get curiosity to read more. Keep it up for the excellent work helping car owners with your immense knowledge. I have decided to read all 76 pages of this thread from begining

Now the next part - I am proud owner of XL6 Alpha Manual Splendid Silver colour (2022 facelift). It’s been 5 weeks now, not much used - just 300kms, but amazed with the driving and ride quality. It’s almost silent and without vibration inside even at 70-80km speed. AC is good, a specious car, driver seat is very comfortable, and family says captain seats and 3rd row is also very comfortable. Though not much used but so far everything looks great except 2 issues: first is that it's showing average of 11 (which I assume would improve as I use more) and second is that I am not able to connect Android Auto (it keeps on disconnecting every second, tried with 2-3 genuine OEM cables and 3 different android mobiles, now will show it to service centre during 1st service this week if USB port has any issue) (yes 1st service at 1 month got delayed as we were out of town, though service centre person keep calling and reminding me every alternate day).

Service centre has offered me following for exterior safety:-
(1) Anti-rust coating: Cost 2500 - 500 discount (discount only during 1st free service), so final cost 2000. They will apply coats every 6 months i.e. at 1st month during 1st free service, then 6th month during 2nd free service and then 12th month during 3rd free service.
(2) Teflon coating (3M): Cost 3500 - 500 discount (discount only during 1st free service), so final cost 3000. They will apply coats every 6 months i.e. at 1st month during 1st free service, then 6th month during 2nd free service and then 12th month during 3rd free service.

I do not know how will be their anti-rust and teflon quality and should I really go ahead with both of them.

Also note mine is a dedicated NEXA service center by the same showroom I purchased the car.

I did tried to explore Team-BHP for car protection, and the feedback on Teflon coating is not good. Somebody mentioned that Wax polish is done every 6 month in the name of Teflon coating. In one thread somebody was suggesting to do paint sealant and underbody protection from 3M Car Care as 'must have' protection. I called 3M Car Care in Delhi - he quoted 6100 for underbody protection (5 yr warranty) and 9000 for paint sealant (3 yr protection with 2 maintenance coats every 12 months). 3M guy also offered Ceramic Coating in 28K (he said ceramic coating has 2 yr warranty, and approx. 2-3 yr life).

Please suggest what should I do with these two offers? I want to do underbody rust protection and also want to maintain the new car colour + shining. What are options for both of them?

And here some pics of my Splendid Silver XL6:

Congratulations on your purchase. Quite surprised by the missing trip meter display on newer models. Hope someone comes out with a fix, I'm not aware of such issue on older models.

Congratulations, this shade of silver looks quite premium.

Regarding Teflon, strictly avoid. If you are into DIYs, wax it once every 3 months and that will be far better than so called Teflons. Of course there are better alternatives, but kindly make sure service provider is good and ethical.

Same case with anti rust coatings, more than the product, it's the way of application and applicator which matters. I'm not a fan of 3M coatings TBH since I've seen their coatings peeling off in no time.

Shashi
