Yeah I agree it could be distracting for some. But I am a sucker for tasteful ambient lighting since it doesn't affect my driving. Something like the new seltos or the ambient lighting in my ecosport.

I’m pretty sure there are provisions given as the part number for the bottom dashboard unit is the same across all variants.

Since yours is the 2025 model Baleno, you could get the T-Lead harness making the installation plug and play.

T-Lead Harness Part No. for Baleno: 990J0M55TE0-010

Part No. for Footwell Light Kit: 990J0M75T11-030

I suggest getting it installed through your dealer so that you avoid running into any warranty issues in the future.

Thanks buddy. I've been using 08887-01206.

Hi ,

Firstly, Thank you for the relentless advices on multiple topics on this forum. Rare to come across someone knowledgeable at this extent. Glad I did.

I own a 2011 Swift Vxi K-Series Gen 1 which has clocked 1.5 lac kms on the Odo.

The recommended engine oil grade is 5w 30 AFAIK, and I had been using the same since it's first oil change in Jan 2012. Till 2021, I did not have much knowledge about the oil grades, however, my father always advocated the use of 5w 30 fully synthetic engine in it's yearly service. Specifically, we used Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start 5W 30 fully synthetic engine oil.

The fuel pump of the car went kaput at nearly 1 lac kms on the odo in 2021 October. After the fixes, I became more sound about the technicalities of the Engine and fluids to be used. I had used fully synthetic 5w 30 engine oils from Total, Motul and Castrol Edge during it's service at ~9k kms intervals. Had used Liquimolly MoS2 additive with the last two service with Motul and Castrol Edge.

My observations -

Total engine oil was crap. Average performance.

Motul was good only for the first 2k kms after service. The performance (throttle response & FE) degraded over time.

Castrol Edge - By far the best engine oil in terms of performance which I observed till now.

I get my car serviced at a local FnG where I provide them with the fluids which I procure online. Also, I do get the throttle body, sensors (MAP & MAF), PCV, Purge Valve etc cleaned at every service. Also, got the EGR cleaned last year for the first time (at MASS as I didn't want to risk it at an outside FNG).

I read at one of your threads where you recommended the Amsoil Signature series for a 2010 Sx4 vvt. I really wanted to try Amsoil at my next service in June 2025. Would you recommend the same for the 2010 Swift K-series without vvt? Also, would you recommend any other brand like the Shell Helix Ultra etc?

Looking forward to your advice Shashi. Thank you.

Best, Sourav

Adding Door Courtesy Lamps

Implemented this into my car as it helps with night time visibility when you’re leaving the car, plus it’s a nice welcome feature. These work only for the front doors.

Fusebox of my car
There’s an empty fuse slot which runs live even when the ignition is off, so I chose to tap power from this.

Since I don’t have a 5A fuse with me, I'm using the 10A fuse that comes with this fuse tap kit, will replace this in the future with a lower rating. The total power drawn is usually 10W with halogen bulbs but since I swapped the bulbs with LED ones, it comes out to be around 2W. Ideally should be using a 1A or a 0.5A fuse for this setup but in the future I may add more lighting through this line.

Wire that connects to the door switch
I didn't want to directly splice/tap from the OEM factory wire, so I reached out to an MSIL friend who arranged a harness that bypasses the connection through connectors. The door switch is the negative line for this setup so that both the door lights function independently.

The harness
This is used in the ambient lighting kit which is sold as an accessory for the Alto K10.

I'm using spade connectors to connect the various wires

Thanks again for sharing BlueKatana, Looks awesome. Happy you went for a plug and play setup.

Attaching a part number for the ambient lighting kit for others reference. 990J0M53T11-030

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Hi Blue Kantana, I’ve been considering puddle lights for the door since a very long time on my XL6. I need more info as to how did you find the lamp and housing and how did you fix it?
Why did you do this only for the front doors? Is it not possible to fix this on the rear doors? I would love to have it on all 4 doors.
If you are in B’lore can you help me do this on my car? You may ping me privately and we shall talk about it.

Rgds,
B

I had replaced the interior door panels of my XL6 with the facelift ones because my previous MASS had scratched them up pretty bad. The facelift door panels come with the lamp and wiring pre-installed.

This modification is definitely possible for the rear doors as well but it would require additional wiring and cutting off the plastic to add provision for the rear lamps.

You could check out DBHPian BoneCollector's thread: DIY : Fitting Puddle Lamps on my Maruti Vitara Brezza
The only alteration I would suggest is using a fuse tap for power source and wiring it to the individual door switches so that the lamps function independently.

Please PM me if you have any further queries, will be more than happy to guide you on this.
