Here are the specs variant wise. The base variant doesn't even get a stereo nor a rear wash wipe in this million-rupee car. :Frustrati

Don't know when will manufacturers will understand that these are must-have features especially in a 'premium product'.

They are sooo careful not to mention the Harrier. So much talk and so carefully tiptoeing around the Harrier.
They make it sound as though the whole Omega Arc- D8 platform, "global clousure" etc were just introduced specially for the Safari.
It's as though the Harrier didn't exist

What are the dimensions of this car?

The price was never gonna be revealed today it was just the unveil of the new safari and not the launch. Nowadays it has become kind of the norm for the car companies to unveil it first and after a week or two reveal the prices :Frustrati

The Pictures of the Safari from every angle, including some 3D stuff was already available on the Tata Motors website.

Why do we need to 'unveil' something, which is already known?

The only aspect and probably the most important aspect, which was unknown was the price.
Rather than revealing the price, this event was just an hour of management trash talk.

They had to reveal the features and the variant spread and other things. Agreed that we being bhpians already know this stuff but this isn't true for everybody is it?

The XE variants for Safari as well as Harrier shouldn't exist. The XM variants should be the entry level trims for these cousins, at the XE price points. I don't know what it costs TML to manufacture these cars, but such sparse cabins and paint job restrictions just doesn't suit the stature of car costing north of 15L at base variant (Ex Showroom).

I think Tata has its target market well in sight with Safari. The launch video pandered to the modern family where husband and wife drive in turns to various destinations with their family. This Safari ain't there for you to 'Reclaim your Life', its there to 'Revel your Life'.

Overall not a bad product at all! A very good alternative in the 20-30L bracket. Since its a Harrier V2 with extra seats, hopefully it's niggle less if not niggle free!

This is just for sticker price. This will in all probability be never produced or will have huge waiting period and will eventually become "made to order".

Negatives

1. Unknown safety of the product as Tata is yet to test the Harrier as well as the Safari at NCAP.

7. Missing essentials like wireless charging, ventilated seats, electric tailgate, 360 degree camera etc.

1. Unknown 'safety ratings' and not 'unknown safety' please.
7. These can't be termed as essentials in my opinion.

No XTA/XTA+ in Safari too. Well that's a bummer.

9/10 people on the streets wouldn't be able to tell this apart from the Harrier.

I am trying to not sound like a purist or a snob, but Tata has let down the Safari brand name with this repurposed effort.

I was eagerly waiting for this car.
But such acts show that the company is not confident enough about their offering and that would make me think twice before even considering it now.

This might be the overpayed marketing department being oversmart for their own good, by trying to keep the Safari "in the news cycle" by drip feeding information.

Watched the launch video now. What a boring show...

The presenters all look the typical corporate types. Totally dry, no excitement. Not even a smile on their face. Even college students could have presented it better.

Coming to the vehicle, the XZA variant also gets electrically adjusting driver seat. So looks like the only difference between XZA and XZA+ is the sunroof. As per the website, sunroof has load carrying capacity only in the non-sunroof variants. So I think XZA is a more practical choice for many people, regardless of the price.

Safari brochure is now available.

So it is confirmed that Safari has following over Harrier(except for exterior looks and extra row/seats)

- TPMS (from XT onwards)

- EPB with Auto-Hold (from XZ onwards)

- iRA connected car tech (from XT onwards)

- 18 inch tyres from XT onwards

- Rear Disc Brakes (from Base XE onwards)

- Boss Mode - Increases second-row legroom (from Base XE onwards)

- Different Interior Color Theme: Oyster White in Safari vs Oak Brown in Harrier

- Mood Lighting (from XT onwards)

- Auto Dimming irvm (from XT onwards vs XZ+ in Harrier)

- Only 3 color options in Safari(Blue, White, Grey) and not even DualTone option vs lot more and appealing color choices in Harrier(Dark, Camo, Dual-Tone Red/White)

- Panaromic Sunroof is now called Majestic Skydome in Safari lol:

XZ+ vs XZ in Safari is only sunroof addition. In Harrier XZ+ had a lot more than just a sunroof vs XZ. So Basically XZ of Safari is a lot more loaded than XZ of Harrier.

They have messed up the variant feature configuration. If the car costs more than 15 lakhs on road, touch screen infotainment, steering mounted controls and electrically adjustable mirrors should be standard. A person spending 15 lakhs will look like a fool in front of his folks if he has to adjust the mirror using a stick.

I thought Tata had learned this when they launched Hexa with decent lower variants. Two years down the line, they started the feature deletion saga with Hexa to kill it and then they were back to old ways. Harrier lower variants if equipped properly can steal many customers from Creta and Seltos.

They are reserving the other colors, only to launch them at later stages, few months down the line. Used to like the old Safari's pearl white color, don't how this white will look like and how pearl white will look on new Safari.
