Guys, slightly off-topic: what does this 29.9km in idrive7 journey data mean? I too get this in my X3 but haven't found any explanation about this in user manual or elsewhere?

I think it’s the free KMs (the distance covered with leg off from accelerator). I could be wrong
:confused:

Just put on drive statistics and drive to figure it out.

Tanzanite Blue II Metallic for the M340i from BMW Individual catalog is a very shy of a colour, the blue only comes out when it gets a proper wash and direct sunlight;

I think it applies to all shades of blue from BMW catalog:)

Below is an example. And, it's a bit vice-versa (Sunlight vs Dark Basement)

This picture is after a wash but, taken in a dark basement in Hilton Hotel about 5 weeks ago

This picture is taken in sunlight after 5-weeks of previous wash. This picture is after car went through continuous rain, slush and not being cleaned at all.

Basically, color will pop if it's under direct sunlight. Washed or Not Washed:loveit

Hey mobike, thanks for sharing your thoughts and pictures of your X3 M40i.

I believe the colour you've picked is "Pythonic Blue" i.e. launch colour (hence, good selection) of the X3 M40i & this is how it should look in all its glory;

Thanks Karan

As this was my first BMW, I wanted only blue color as since childhood, I have always thought of a particular brand in a particular color like Ferrari is Red, Lambo is Yellow and in this case a BMW has to be only Blue. :D

Pythonic Blue is an awesome color in person and as you rightly said, when car is washed it's color is quite highlighted. Especially, when it stands in sunlight, it just takes your breath away.

If you've noticed, they made the blue slightly darker for an SUV vs. brighter blue (Your M340i) for a sedan which makes perfect sense in some way as SUVs are driven by older gents like me...LOL (Non withstanding the fact that now BMW M cars (both SUV and Sedans) have multiple flashy color choices.

Here are some pics (from my humble phone) of my car in sunlight during various trips. Color does pop in sunlight. Doesn't it? Click for Full resolution :loveit

Guys, small correction. It's Phytonic Blue and not Pythonic Blue. :)

Thanks for the typo correction. The name is as complex as the shade.:D

Haha, yes. Offtopic, but there seems to be 30+ blue shades across BMW Global :)

What an absolute beast of a sedan congrats and love the review! I really wished I could've picked this up but with a daily driver from the suburbs to Vashi I had to settle for the 330i.

The color is a beaut as well! You should look into getting the black kidney grill, the black makes the car look more aggressive and looks fantastic on my Portimao Blue. Plus I am not a big fan of chrome usage.

If I may ask, what roads did you click your pictures in the initial review? I recently moved back home to Bombay so Im not familiar with good roads to drive and for photography purposes.

My M Sport also comes with Pilot Sport 4S but Im assuming its the RF tires which I hate.

Any plans for a tune/mods down the road?

M340i being an M Performance model has Cerium Grey Inserts (Mirror Caps, Grille, Vents etc.) & also Cerium Grey on my 792M wheels. Hence I did not opt for the black grille to maintain the distinguished design elements of the M340 v/s regular 3 series or upcoming M3 etc.

The video was filmed on the NH8 & outskirts of Gujarat.

I believe yours would be Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ZP (ZP = Zero Pressure = Runflat Tech.)

No immediate mods planned :thumbs up

Wanted to share the 1st ever BMW M340i Owners Group Meet Up Video which I filmed recently. The M340i community in India though small but is very strong & close knit. This video captures all the excitement the owners felt during this short meet/drive in Mumbai;

:thumbs up

In continuation of my above post, here are some pictures (Screenshots from the above video) of the meet;

M340i being a limited run model it was a good turnout with 6 owners from Mumbai participating, 2 more known owners unfortunately couldn't make it for this event;

A lot of stories, experiences were shared. In short, never ran out of topics for discussions;

Followed by a brisk cruise across Mumbai;
