Really love the current gen X3 Lci and your spec in the shade of Brooklyn Grey with the M Performance treatment looks tremendous.
Enjoy :thumbs up
This Month Last Year (10th March 2021) BMW M340i was launched & at launch BMW India said it was the Fastest Accelerating Car Made in India with a
Factory Quoted 0-100 Km/h time of 4.4 Secs. However as an owner I always felt the car to be faster & recently got the opportunity to finally test how Fast my car Actually is & to conduct this test a DRAGY Device was used which is a GPS based performance meter known to be dependably accurate & widely used by enthusiasts globally. Though I did many runs during the tests, here are my 3 best runs from that night;
Results;
Run No. 1;
^ 4.34 Secs
Run No. 2;
^ 4.27 Secs
Run No. 3;
^ 4.21 Secs Factors Leading to the above times; 1) Weather Conditions;
I conducted these tests a few days back in late February when the sweet winter in this part of India was over. Also if you see this Performance Report of my best time which is a Screenshot from the Dragy APP it reads the Ambient Temperature as 26 Deg. C. Implying that on a cooler day/night better times can be achieved, Easily.
2) Fuel Level/Grade;
I usually use 95 Octane petrol and for this test I wanted to use 100 Octane but unfortunately when I reached the fuel pump which stocks 100 Octane, that time I already had about a quarter of a tank of 95, Added INR 3000 of XP100. Hence when this test was conducted with the kind of fuel level I had I believe the final octane value would be around 97 or 98. Also as shown in the above screenshot the Fuel level was just under half during the tests.
3) Tyre Pressures;
My car is running a tubeless Michelin PS4S setup & it's important to note that the tyre pressures for this test were set lower than the factory recommended pressures. Also this being a rear biased xDrive I set 1 psi less at the rear to obtain better traction at launch.
Can A Faster Time be Achieved ?
YES. It would be fair to say that if these tests were conducted during winters when the ambient temperatures at night were around 16 Deg. C, with pure 100 Octane fuel & the fuel level in reserve then a faster time could have been achieved easily. To conclude things its another proof that BMW underquotes its performance figures for reasons best known to them, not that I'm complaining :D

DAMN THAT’S FAST.
Insane. You must have really enjoyed yourself.
You used launch control?

This is just insane
Karan. If you are looking at shaving off even 2/10th of seconds, you are entering a proper
Super/Sports car territory buddy....and all this in a mainstream performance car!! :Cheering:
BMW is still my
Dream Machine and if I ever won a lottery to afford some exotic machines,
BMW 530D and
M3/M340i will surely be part of my fleet. :p

In your view, can the tarmac/asphalt/track surface quality also be an important factor here?
Grip levels during the initial take-off and subsequent in-line acceleration could vary from one surface to another.
The experiences of driving on a cement vs a black asphalt top are vastly different even on sub-100 kmph runs, usually.

YES ! :D
Out of the 3 runs 2 were with Launch Control where as the 3rd (Fastest) somehow the launch control did not get activated & that turned out to be the quickest run.

I Agree.
However, this was done on Very Good Asphalt Roads where the grip levels for the Michelin PS4S' were exceptional.
That's damn quick dude!
I heard there aren't any M340is left to buy in the country even if there are many like me waiting to pounce on it with ready cash.
So if you are ready for great sale deal of your M340i , you know whom to call !
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't do it for the next 5 years minimum.
Enjoy.

M340i was supposed to be a limited run model & only 40 units were initially planned. However due to strong demand 2 more lots came in with about 50 cars each & a new colour (Mineral White Metallic) was introduced. Not sure when the next cars are coming.

Congrats on the ownership anniversary!
A high pressure wash in the engine bay/with an open bonnet is something I will only trust with a professional who knows what he is doing. I hope in this case the right steps are followed. Here is a help video for others:

Off Course. This being a Official BMW Dealership (This same workshop also handles service for Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren & Rolls Royce in the same premises) I am sure they know what they are doing & staff is well trained for such washing procedures & would be following SOP. However thanks for your concern, Regards !

BMW loves engine bay washing. Every time I send the X1, it comes back with spic & span engine bay for past 4 years. All good.
Cannot say same for other brands.
