which one is better santro or wagonr

hii

guys my dad wants to buy a small car for city driving as he is not happy driving the truck(scorpio) in the city main reason is parking problem ,so he is thinking of taking a small car for city use and use scirpio for highway use or long drives .

He is in a confusion weather to go for wagonr or santro. he will be travelling for 60 km daily ,,,

guys can you all suggest which one will be best ,what is the mileage of both the cars and maintainance cost ....

I have been using Wagon-R for the past eight months and completed almost 17000 km. It has been absolute delight to drive in the traffic, effortless. Seating comfort is superb. I was able to drive continuously for thousands of kms without any backpain. I also test drove santro, though a good car and smooth engine than wagon-R, I did not like the seating position.

I am getting 14-16 kmpl in city and 18-21 kmpl on highways depending on traffic and driving speeds. It is cheaper to maintain.

Swift diesel is much better option, if you do 60 km daily.

There's lotsa discussion already on the boards. Do we need a separate topic?

Zenopio,

I have a WagonR. But i suggest you get him the Santro!

Reasons: Gearshift for one! He will find Santro shift very easy to use. Also, the car is more peppy to drive compared to the WagonR. Service is not a problem, though maruti has the edge there.

But, Santro rear is bumpy. So, if you are planning to use the rear seats, WagonR would make more sense. For me, rear seats are always occupied, so preferred WagonR.

I think the better option would be to test drive both the vehicles in the city and then decide.

Mileage of Santro is almost same as Wagon-R. In bumper-to-bumper city traffic, like in Hyderabad (think you know well how the traffic is in hyderabad), both wagon-R and Santro give 11-12 kmpl with full A/C. There will be very slight difference in mileage of both. On highways, wagon-R gives 1 kmpl better than Santro.

I am really amazed that you could not find any material on Santro and WagonR on this site! This site is teeming with Santro and WagonR threads which between them probably cover anything and everything that you will ever need to know about these two cars. Some I am including here

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-c...nr-santro.html

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-c...vs-santro.html

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-s-indica.html

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-c...ro-wagonr.html

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-c...-r-santro.html

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-c...ntro-xing.html

If you want more there are at least a few hundreds more. Please use the search feature rather than opening a thread on the same old beaten topics over and over.

By the way why did you open a What Car query thread in this section?

Thread closed.
