Tech can easily mess up since they would be so used to the more common engine variant.

I would really not mind DIYing the basics of each service (engine oil, oil filter, air filter, AC filter etc), but considering warranty, I am bound to stick with a Hyundai SC.
My thoughts exactly. If not for the warranty, I would carry out my services myself. Modern cars don’t really need much more than a filter, oil replacement, air filter replacement and general system checks and tightenings. ChrisFix’s and some other folks’ content has convinced me that most, if not all, the common operations are DIY-friendly, and carry low complexity. Basic DIY set of tools and a vehicle step riser is typically good enough.

Another challenge to DIY service is the low resale rate of such a vehicle due to less probability of finding another DIY enthusiast that loves their vehicles to the point they do their own servicing. Typically pre-owned vehicle buyers are looking for clean history, scheduled replacements that proxies up as a manufacturer’s/brand’s endorsement to the condition of a vehicle.

Thereby, restricting the sale of my vehicles to a lower value or a prolonged wait to find another suitable owner, if I take the DIY route indeed.

Probably on my next vehicle, I guess.

Sorry to ask but did you sell your Ecosport Diesel for just 3.5L, wasn't it well maintained or what ?

One of my family member bought an used Ecosport Diesel Titanium 2021 21k driven for 9.75L, from a dealer, though your Ecosport might be 2017-18 but still this is too much difference or I guess here in non NCR areas, used car prices are too much

I'll be glad to assist on any DIYs, if you ever feel the need

You are absolutely right, NCR used car prices (diesel's especially) are very low. The only disadvantage to me was that the car was 3rd owner, otherwise it had new suspension all around, new-ish tires, an overhauled clutch.
I had to be content with this price because that's the reality of the NCR used car market.
As another reference, a contact in Bangalore bought a 2013 Ecosport diesel for 4.4L something in 2023. The used car prices vary a lot once out of NCR.

What’s worse, at My N Line’s 20k service, I took it to Sapphire Mayapuri, where they were about to load my vehicle with the, wait for it…, wrong engine oil. Had I not been there, they would’ve confidently put in the wrong engine oil meant for the standard i20 1.2 NA Petrol Engine and called it a day of honest work on my vehicle.

How I got to know about it?
I casually asked the technician right before he was about to fill it up with oil. He casually mentioned that he doesn’t know and it is computerised delivery managed by the floor manager, who releases it based on the car that technician gives them in writing. Joke’s on the customer, because they wrong i20 2023 (or equivalent). What was intended to be an efficient system (probably to reduce spillage and chances of theft) would’ve pretty much screwed up a trusting customer’s(me) vehicle who entrusted the vehicle to the service center to take care of (eerily similar to a case I read about a Creta in the north-east that got a dose of the wrong oil, whose engine suffered major damage thereafter)

Even surprising, they asked me to leave the car with them until the morning after, in order to arrange the right engine oil. To fix it up afterwards. This is one maybe two days before rakshabandhan, a day I would need the vehicle in morning itself.

I may have only noticed it when my engine would’ve started showing up problems or worse, gone kaput. Or worse, it could’ve given it a slow death, if the oil properties were somewhat similar. This is precisely the kind of thing that I tell my dad to go to the service center for rather than giving the car over to *the guy*.

And this is not the first time I observed lapses in Hyundai service center’s actions. At another service center, I once saw a vehicle seriously thud into another as a technician backed out the vehicle from the service bay. They casually checked if everything is alright, also checking out reactions of other customers on the floor, although they may have damaged both the vehicle’s bumpers at the stress points by this action.

Another one(rather famous one on my profile) did not balance and align my vehicle’s wheels properly after removing and putting back the steering column as they opened the dashboard to replace a part in the A/C.

In short? List goes on.

I have observed them to be the worst caretakers of a vehicle and its better to stay close to your vehicle when in need of a service.
I want to give my car for service and need to specifically get my clutch checked out as i have realised my clutch is alot heavier and the car is generally alot jerkier after driving a friend's Nline. But now i have the irrational fear they will mess my car up even more... Is there a solution? A service centre that anyone in this forum has had a good experience with?

That’s very strange. Is it a manual?

There are probably good service centers as well. I’d just prefer to stay in the vicinity of my car with a cup of coffee every hour to stay on top of whatever is going on. Needless to say, anything above a 6 is generally not worth it.

That said, iirc, chaksjr seems to have had decent experience with Safdarjung Hyundai.

Yes, it is manual, 10K kilometres done. I even bit my tongue and did a 1500kms "running in" period.
Same for my friend's car and we got the cars almost at the same time. Only difference being his is in bangalore, mine is here in Delhi

I find the clutch to be very light in mine, haven't ever felt it to be heavy. On the other hand, I have not driven another manual so I would not even know if mine has a heavier clutch or not. You can try out Professional, though I wouldn't say they are amazing, it is just that they did the bare minimum expected without messing stuff up.

I honestly would not mind giving up my keys to you for a bit for you to see the problem for yourself but after extensively and enthusiastically driving my car
and the other i20 n line Im convinced my car has some issue for sure.

I have also noticed on hot days the clutch gets alot heavier than normally and the car gets alot jerkier and does not go unless i give it some throttle. if that clues anyone in on why its giving issues.

We can do that, for sure. Do DM me and we can figure a time out. Not sure if I would be able to pin-point the issue but we can do a comparison atleast.

I'm too new on teamBHP and do not have the ability to DM as of now.

Re: My Hyundai i20 N Line Review

A year with Blue Boy & 20,000 kilometers (well almost)

My car completed 1 year of ownership on the 1st of May. I still enjoy driving it daily, pushing it every now and then to remind myself that I bought the NLine

K&N filter installation

Got the K&N replacement air filter installed sometime in mid December, the odo was somewhere around 11200kms. While there is no perceivable change in performance (not that I was expecting it either), it is a small step towards getting an ECU tune sometime this year, maybe.

New year day's drive around NCR

On the 1st of Jan, I decided to just aimlessly drive around NCR. I left home in Gurgaon post breakfast and ended up covering about 185kms in NCR before getting back home in the evening.

Video is available here -

Lord Alto strikes

Got into a snaffu with an incorrigible aunty in an Alto, hell bent on creating a 3rd lane in between 2 directions of traffic, on a narrow road, ended up hitting my rear bumper on the right side. There was no point in taking this anywhere since she obviously did not understand what she had done wrong, so I just let it go.

Lucknow Trip

I took a weekend trip to Lucknow to attend a close friend's wedding in mid April. During this trip I realized that driving for 7 hours on empty expressway's with only 100kmph as the speed limit is extremely boring. The condition of the Agra to Lucknow stretch is also not the best, with the road surface bumpy at many places. Had a good time in the city, got a chance to eat kebabs from Tunday Kebabi.

Trip end odo

Thanks to this trip I covered about 2,329 kms in April, which has been my highest ever in this car.

3rd free service

I got the 3rd free service done at 19080kms, opted to get it done at Professional Hyundai. I had my 2nd service done there as well. I had one complaint, which was squeaking noise from the driver passenger window (it was not from the trim, but the glass moving against the rubber beading). They corrected the glass alignment and the issue got resolved.

Total came to INR 3,283, which was cheaper than the 2nd service.
