my new ride - i10 magna

After a long wait took delivery of my i10 magna (gray color) last friday. And this has been a week of fun-driving! Below are some random thoughts on the 1-week ownership.

Previous car(s)
I owned a Santro (2005 XL model) for 2 years before selling it in September. Except for the ride being bumpy, I enjoyed every km driving the Santro. After a test-drive of the i10, I was more or less convinced that the i10 is my next car.

Dealership
Since I have shifted to Hyderabad, picked up the car at Talwar Hyundai, Banjara Hills. Compared to my past experience with Trident Hyundai, Bangalore, this has been an OK experience. The profile/professionalism of the staff at Trident is much better. But on the whole, no complaints.

A big thanks to Team-BHP for the new car check-list. Really helped!

Ownership experience and drive
-> The drive (as pointed out in my TD report) is great. I don't agree that the i10 isn't as much a pleasure to drive, as the Santro or the Getz 1.1. The main difference is the beautiful 3rd gear pull in the i10, compared to say the Santro. It reminds me of the old zen when in that gear.
-> The power/torque are very good. Of course, it has a 1.1L engine, so theres only that much you get.
-> The ride quality is way better than the Santro. Feels steady at all speeds, and is more fun on the corners. Amazing feeling. Period.
-> Braking is very good. Not as bad as on the TD car last month. Even without the tyre change (see below), the braking felt good.

Modifications and accessories
Since I had spent 4.5 lacs on the car, not too many modifications.
-> Music system: Sony USB model CDX-GT460US head-unit with JBL GTO speakers in the rear door and JBL GT5 speakers in the front door (Around 12K with installation, bill and warranty)
-> Tyres: Michelin XM1 175/70R13 instead of the stock MRF 155/80R13. Nice tyres, feel much better than the stock. Steering has become a little heavy though. A big thanks to kpzen for the advice!
-> The Roots windtone horn (skoda-walaa!) instead of the stock Hella ones

Satisfaction
My choice was between the i10, Getz 1.1, Chevy U-VA and maybe the Accent petrol. Am very satisfied with my decision of going with the i10. It works for me (don't want the burden of wanting it to work for someone else :-))

Fantastic... Even I fell for the i10 the very first time I saw one. However now I need my next car to have rear space for 3 adults. This is 1 area which this baby is a poor let down. Tere's no way it can carry 3 ppl in comfort...
