naik, can you give us a full breakdown of the costs? 11.9K seems a bit too much, considering my second service cost a full Rs. 0/-.

Hi Dear Fabiosis,

I hope you all are doing well, along with your steeds.. I've completely paid up for the 1.4 Elegance MPi and I will be taking delivery of my white beauty this Friday morning [09.01].. :)

Oh mi gosh!! Naik's report of his second service cost is very steep [for someone like me] and I would not want to touch the Fabia, but then thank goodness that I have a Preventive Maintenance package for alteast 3 yrs from date of purchase.

The registration is happening today [should be complete by now, the Stanley representative has taken the seats & doorpads apart [carefully, though] and has taken them to get the leather treatment done. I also got the opportunity to tear apart the plastic covers on the seats myself ;)

I'll share experiences and pics on Friday. Till then, take care Fabiosi..

You were extremely lucky to get the 3 year 'pardon', which is just what the Marketing Doc ordered to cure many of Skoda's ills chief of which is the perception that their cars-though brilliant- are expensive to own in the long term, and it will be a coup if the public takes to this well-strategised -even Machiavellian- manoeuvre.

well..the activity in this thread seems to've picked up great momentum of late and unfortunately, i've not been able to keep up with it since the TBHP page is finding difficult to get loaded, both from my office & personal PC. Did i read somewhere that its near 12k for the 2nd service??? :Shockked:
i hope the service gods for the petrol engines would be much more kind with the bill.


I should appreciatethe presence of mind of madrash to tie up the gear gizmos and drive again. Everyone blame good old amby, but it has proven again and again that driving an amby is a lifetime experience. Even i had the luck to try my hand on an amby for about 2 years.

Counting hours Ajay? The waiting experience is also an awesome experience. Hope you come out more on the 'waiting experience' in the following posts. Did you use tough talks with the dealer (if my memory is correct, its TAFE) to get the deals or they just offered them to you?Just asking because my brother in Bangalore almost made up his mind to buy fabia as his second car. But as always, the twists and turns in the decision making is going on as we all have went through.

Dear Anil, it's glad to note that your family has wholeheartedly chosen Fabia as the next vehicle. My personal, opinion is that if you are limiting budget within Rs. 6.50 lakhs, why don't you look into the 1.2 Ambienete? You get almost everything major except projector headlamps and sunroof.

i am not too sure if the car is driveable with just 70bhp on hand for such a heavy car with the occasional highway trip. hence i have not considered it though i will do it now. I have got the price list from autograph cars here in mumbai, i just did a smart thing by faxing them my enquiry & not mentioning my mobile numbers. just correct me on the 1.2 doubt if i'm wrong, otherwise it will be good to have the ambient trim. see the things this i will go for a test drive after some reviews from team bhp.

Anil: Both Petrol 1.2 L and Diesel 1.4 L engine delivers same 70 BHP at different RPM's so no major difference in power. But if you drive more then say 1000 Km per month then Diesel is practical as it is cheap to run. You get more milage on a cheaper fuel. But if you drive less then 1000 Km per month don't even conceder diesel as it is expensive compared to petrol model and maintenance cost will also be high.
As I own a Fabia Ambient 1.2L petrol I can tell you by my personal experience the car is good to own. Car looks good with Alloys, Fog Lamps, Two tone interiors, and not to forget the Key fob. As I have mentioned before in a post that I am yet to drive it on a out station trip but managed top speed of 140 Km/h on Gurgaon Expressway and the car seems stable at that speed. The company clam of top speed is 180 Km/h which I don't think any underpowered car can achieve.

Dear Anil, so far from my experience including the highway trips whcih i've undertaken with full load people and baggages, I haven't found any difficulty with regards to driveability or felt being underpowered. The feedbacks from other 1.2 owners also suggest that they havn't felt any issues relating to the highway usage. But again, all these are personal choices. Sometimes, some people may wish for a more powerful engine during highway trips. If that's the case, one should settle for high spec car only and not drive a car which he won't like. Ultimately, its the test drive which seals the decision, right? like you, i had the doubts and cleared eveyrthing with the 3 test drives i took over various terrains, roads and traffic conditions. It was a close fight between 1.2 HTP & Swift Vdi. In the end, fabia won on many counts. here's the feature compasion for the 3 petrol trims. hope this helps you out. Thanks for your valuable input. As i told you i already got the trim specifications by mail from autograph cars mumbai. This car will be used at home so it will be ways below 1000kms per month (not even 500kms; for the highway i will use the Logan then), so petrol seems the more sensible option. I will go for a test drive on sunday & check out the features of the 1.2htp ambiente variant. hope that if i settle for a 2008 make, i'll get a good deal. will keep you guys posted.

Seems noise made by us guys have reached Skoda guys. Thanks to the link given by Vikcho, i went through the spruced up site and found it more eye-pleasing and informative. By the way, the brand of tyre shown in the picture gallery is "BARUM"..or the case may be that they've copied the pics from another international site.

Plus, the site doesn't show the Tangerine Orange color in the list of colors any more.Does that mean that I'm one among the few T.Orange owers??? Well, if its so, then i do certainly make it to the exclusibe club within fabiosischeers:

@ Anil, less than 500Km/ month pushes you into the petrol region. It was another factor for my decision making process as i approximately run around 800Km/ month and it has been reducing nowadays, thanks to the feeling to cut the costs stupid:

are these standard. i dont think side airbags and tpms and stuff like this is standard? am i right, can fabia owners confirm plz

Hello Dear Fabiosis,

I am very happy to state that I have taken delivery of my white Fabia Elegance 1.4 MPi and it is sparkling.

The delivery was done this afternoon at 13:00 and I had one of the dealer's driver drop it off home. My dad and I had gone to the dealership to drive home the dearest addition.

The car is lovely, and I've fallen in love with its white looks.. White wasn't my initial color of preference, honestly, but now, gosh! It looks beautiful.. More so on the Fabia. :)

I have also gotten Stanley leather seat work done, but I couldn't take photos of the interiors, in time. I'm sorry that I'm unable to share them now. But I'll surely take some lovely snaps by Sunday and post them on Monday [I don't have internet at home and I prefer to write, in fluid motion, than write at home and go paste in some browsing center].

My sales contact, Utsav, had really got a lot of work done for this sale [4 test drives in total, trips to collect payments and handover receipts, negotiating for discounts and offerings without my pushing ever and more]. I really wanted Utsav to feel rewarded, so we got him a small gift for him. I also got sweets from a nearby K.C. Das and distributed first to my sales guy, the GM and then everyone else.

Tipped the individual that was cleaning my car until the last minute and also the person that explained all featues and everything the car had to offer, over 30 minutes. He was also the guy that dropped us home. Mind you, this fella was very knowledgeable and was well versed with all features the Elegance had.

So, finally our family gets a 'luxury car'. Skoda's tagline for this Fabia is 'Feel Special'. So do I feel special? Honestly, I don't know yet. In fact, I didn't even drive from the dealership to my house. I'd requested the dealer's driver to drop the vehicle and us home [and we paid him some to have a lunch and go back to the dealership by auto].

I personally think that I cannot feel special immediately and already. I haven't even fully engaged myself behind the wheel to claim I'm feeling special already. It is going to take me weeks and even months to really enjoy my car and have fun on every trip. But I sure do know, from the way things are, that I definitely will feel special in this excellent car.

AJAY: Congrats Ajay on your new possession. Take good care of her. Don't exceed the speed above 80 for 1st 1000kms. And always maintain the correct tyre pressure. You might find the info stuck on inside of the fuel lid.
What stanley seats did you opt for? And How much did it cost you ?

One more important adivce is I would give you is to try and read the manual book as an when you get the time. Would be of real help.

Pranav: Get some time out brother and post the details on your 2nd service cost and consumables. Guess you and me travelling in the same boat.
I happen to right to Skoda India regarding the noises I have been observing from the suspension. Got a mail immediately from them that Dealer representative would get back to me in regards to it. The next day got a call from the senior adviser at Autobahn and since I knew him he immediately pointed saying that he would personally take care of the problem. Would be taking the care next week as he is not available this week.

I think anyone here having any problem with their babies should mail and report to Skoda India about it.

Regarding the traction control and ESP, its a mistake that they have done. Both Traction control and ESP needs specific sensor for it which is not present in the car. Spoke to Customer Service advisor on Skoda India about it and he said that its not present and would point out the mistake.
