Prince thats normal news from MSIL Dealers. I heard most dealers are getting quotas of only single digits of Dzire. Waiting for car for 1 year is ridiculous rather dealers are not sure about proper waiting period.
@ Murugan 10.69km/l mileage is good enough for a sedan. Shall wait for more updates from your side.

Also they mentioned, if I can manage to book it VIA some NRI as gift, it can be delivered in one month. They have some kind of offer for NRIs |
I did enquire about booking it VIA some NRI as gift but this is what they responded with:
Dear Mr. Dubey,
Greetings of the Day
At the outset, we wish to thank you for the interest shown in our programme. In regards to your query, we would like to inform you that, due to production constraints; we at present have not cover Swift Dzire under our programme. However, we are doing on the same and hope we will cover Dzire under the programme very soon.
Further, you can book the car directly to any Maruti’s Authorized Dealer at your location.
For your information the normal waiting of Swift Dzire is 6-7 months in Domestic Market.
We look forward to your co-operation.
Regards,

Good mileage. Hope the figure will improve after some more time
Maruti Suzuki Swift DZiRE review, road test, test drive, comparison, user report, feedback etc
Several friends of mine wanted to know why I purchased the Swift DZiRE soon after its launch instead of waiting for reviews, road tests, test drives, comparisons, user reports and feedback from auto magazines and websites.
1. The Maruti DZiRE is not an entirely new car. It is a Swift with a boot and having driven the Swift extensively and enjoyed its FTD (fun to drive) factor and heard its owners sing about its VFM (value for money) quotient I felt quite safe to take the plunge.
2. I did test drive the diesel demo dzire and to me it handled almost like its unbooted sibling, the Swift, and so I had no qualms in going for the DZiRE.
3. In fact even before the launch in Chennai many Indian car magazines had previews and initial driving experience reports. One of them even had a brief comparison of the petrol and diesel variants. There was no point in waiting for international reviews as the car did not have a global launch and even till the present has an exclusive Indian presence.
Two dealers in Chennai have stopped giving test drives of the DZiRE. They have also stopped taking bookings for the car and their estimated delivery schedule runs into January 2009. If I had waited for detailed reviews I would have had to join the waiting list and I was in urgent need of a second car.

I finally received my DZiREs Registration Certificate from the dealer yesterday, almost 50 days from the date of the car's delivery. It had three mistakes that had been corrected and endorsed! My father's name had been misspelled, the car's name was not complete (Swift as against Swift DZiRE) and the color was also not completely mentioned (Silver as against Silky silver). I am told that I have to get the vehicle number endorsed in the insurance papers as soon as possible.
The last mileage update - 10.97KM/Lt of unleaded petrol in the same conditions mentioned earlier.
I too have booked a ZDI on March 28 th and am still waiting for the delivery. No clue from the dealer as of when the car is going to be delivered. However I had atest drive and the diesel engine ,I felt energetic and pepy.Tried steep uphil climbing also and it pulled up easily.Observed the gear leaver jerking when you accelerate. The test drive car had a telescopic steering and not a tilt steering as they advertised. Can some one owining ZDi verify this . Maruti could have made the door panelling better, it looks plasticky with a small piece of fabric on the hand rest.Overall I found the car good for the price.

Dzire dont have telescopic steering. It got only tilt steering. Are you confused with your fabia test drive? Fabia is having telescopic steering.

Dear Kochicara,
The test drive car I drove had a Telescopic steering .I had pointed out this to the sales executive who brought the car. However the brochure says DZIRE is fitted with a Tilt steering.Am not at all confused .Am driving around a SUV having both Tilt & Telescopic functions.I have not tried the FABIA since I never considered it for purchase.
Since you have got your DZIRE, please confirm the function by unlocking the lock button on the steering column and try pulling the streeing wheel towars your chest and push it downwards. If you can notice any movement the car is having a "Telescopic steering". If no telescopic movement, keep the lock button open , now try to pull the steering towards your lap .If the stering is moving downward and upward (rake angle adjustment) , then the steering is "tilt steering".Now let me know which function the Dzire ZDI if having.I just wanted to clear the doubt. But the car which I drove had only telescopic steering and I wondered why Maruti is not offering both the functions in the upper model since they have the system.
How many Km you have completed now.Give some more inputs.
Regards.
Ray
A Streetcar Named Desire
Yesterday on seeing my DZiRE a senior friend commented, "Looks like you are happy with your Street car Named Desire!" It struck a bell somewhere and sounded like the name of a movie and so I googled a bit. The March 2008 issue of "What Car?" also concludes its article "New Cars Tested - Maruti Swift DZiRE" on page 11 as "...then the DZiRE is the streetcar for you."
Turns out that "A Streetcar Named Desire" is indeed the name of a movie. The cast included Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando. It is a 1951 film adaptation of the 1947 play of the same name by Tennessee Williams for which he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1948. It was both a critical and box office success.
In the play, the local transportation that a lady takes to arrive at the apartment of her sister in the Faubourg Marigny of New Orleans, on Elysian Fields Avenue includes a streetcar route named "Desire".

Also it is "streetcar" and not "street car." The term "streetcar" refers to a railborne vehicle, lighter than a train, designed for the transport of passengers (and/or, very occasionally, freight) within, close to, or between villages, towns and/or cities, primarily on streets (also known as tram, tramcar, trolley, trolley car).
Tram - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. According to
streetcar - definition of streetcar by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. "streetcar" is a wheeled vehicle that runs on rails and is propelled by electricity.
A 33¢ stamp with the inscription "Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire" was issued by the United States Postal Service on February 18, 1999 as part of the Celebrate the Century Issue series.

Guess that rounds up the whole story! Well, what is a story without pictures; so here goes...
great info for all of us. thanks Murugan
