Dzire don't have telescopic steering.
If wishes were horses perhaps:deadhorse.

It is a tilt steering dear friend. Please check the car crochure or website if you want.

A few weeks back I spotted a Maruti Suzuki Swift silky silver Vxi at my club and could not resist the temptation to park my Maruti Suzuki Swift DZiRE silky silver Vxi next to it to get some side by side photos! I could not get a good frontal view at my club and the last picture was taken when an opportunity presented itself at my hospital.

Nice pictures doc, guess the best view of the dzire is the rear three quarter view.
Looks nice in pictures and better in real life! Also OT have you tinted your windows?

IMHO there is nothing much to differentiate the dzire and (new) swift in the front view,(the frontal picture is with the swift with old bumpers) and i guess that is one drawback.

No, I have not opted for sun (control) film yet although I would love to in Chennai's blistering heat. Not too sure about the rules in Chennai and rest of the country. Are they allowed? If so, are there any specifications on transparency etc. If anybody has info on which authority can give me definite info, please let me know. The staff in the Maruti accessories section are wishy-washy on the issue.

The link below states (not quoting exactly) that the windscreen and rear window shall have visual transmission of light not less than 70% and side windows not less than 50%. So different films may need to be used if one wants optimal heat reduction.

Well Sun control films does not equate to 'dark' tints, also i guess all the leading 'sun film' companies are having 35%(dark) tints.It the UV screen rating of these films that really matter and that does not mean 'dark' tints, also you might be aware of the front windscreen sun control films which happen to be transparent.

Tinted Glass vs Sun control film

Can we tint the automotive glasses after market? Is it done commonly? How much does it cost and where is it done? Is the procedure something routine or is it esoteric? I have heard of it being done after market in the 'pre-sun control film' era but I may be mistaken. Is tinting better than using sun control film? I guess one of the advantages will be that the customer will not face problems of peeling, tearing, bleb formation etc but the downside will be un-alterable shading which may not be to the taste of every customer and possible non-compliance with changing governmental regulations. I was under the impression that tinting is done at the manufacturers end before the car is sold to the customer. Correct me if I am wrong.

The visual transparency rating of the films available in the market stretch over a wide range going upto well above the "permissible" range of 50% / 70%.

Yes, I am aware that sun control films:
1. Save energy by rejecting heat thereby enhancing comfort level and reducing the load on air conditioners
2. Block harmful ultra violet radiation and thus prevent damage to skin and upholstery
3. Reduce glare and increase driving comfort
4. Hold the broken glass splinters together in case of damage during accidents, limiting the extent of damage and injury
5. Enhance the visual appeal to some

Yes, I am also aware that front windscreen sun control films which happen to be transparent are available. How many of us use them though? Looks like upto 70% transparency is enough for these too going by the rules quoted in a previous post. Guess that might make driving in the dark that much more difficult.

Unleaded fuel was not around the last time so I had to go for IndianOil Xtra Premium petrol. The mileage was 11.3Kms/Lt. My friend says that his Ldi gives 14kms/Lt of diesel.

The left front door has developed an annoying persistent rattle.

Odometer 2500kms.

I think you are either trying to prove others that the Dzire is better than Swift or you are justifying your self.

Blistering barnacles! A guy pulls out his digital camera which he has been in the habit of carrying with him for the past 5 years on just 3 different occassions to take impromptu photographs of two cars that have similar genes and are extensively compared by many and they call it a full time job? Whoa! These photos represent a miniscule of thousands of photos of cars and many other categories in my extensive archive.

I am neither trying to prove a point nor do I have to. I like both the DZiRE and the Swift equally and believe that both are very good, value for money and fun to drive cars.
