Finally, my research ended in the car market with the purchase of i10 Magna with few accessories.

What lead me to buy the i10:

I was mainly impressed with the interiors of the car which is the main factor that lead me to buy the i10 compared to other cars like Alto, Palio etc. Fabia was my favorite but it is priced sky high so it did not take me that long to eliminate from my short list. It is not that I could not afford the car at that price but I thought it is way too overpriced.

Buying experience:

I bought the car at Lakshmi Huyndai in Himayat nagar in Hyderabad but had a very miserable experience with the sales guy named : Dinesh Kumar. Very unprofessional and a big lier. I would avoid him at all costs if you want a good experience with the car purchasing.

Pricing:

I have paid 4,49,500.00 Rs (on-road) for the i10 Magna with the following accessories. This price also includes the full registration and extended warranty for the third year.

1. Floor mats
2. Boot mat (not made for i10)
3. Mud flops
4. Sony MP3 player
5. 4 Sony Speakers
6. Rear Spoiler (I regret getting this as it is not genuine Hyundai accessory)
7. Fog Lamps ( I regret this decision as well as the workman ship is not what you expect from the dealership)
8. Body cover.
9. Remote central locking
10. Reverse Horn.
11. Tefflon coating.
12. Seat covers.

I have bought this car with full cash but still experienced stress in buying the car and I can only imagine the experience of people who go through the bank for a loan.

I wish I should not have gone with the accessories that require invasive procedure on the car like Spoiler and Fog lamps. I could not tolerate the experience of watching people (who are not very skilled) working on a new car fitting the accessories by removing nuts and bolts.

The sales guy and the manager both told us that everything is genuine accessory during the negotiations but I found the fog lamps to be after market. I checked the Magna(O) which had the label HMC but the fog lamps they fixed on my car did not have this and they don't look that nice either.

My suggestion to anyone buying the new car is to bargain on the base price and fit accessories outside at reputed store according to your taste one at a time as you go by. We did a mistake of bargaining the price of the car with the accessories included.

Color selection:

I chose the champagne gold because I thought it can hide all the dust on the Indian roads. I also like the silver but I wanted to avoid silver because we have at least few silver cars in our extended family.

Driving Experience :

I bought this car as a gift for my Mom and Dad who live in India in Hyderabad who will be the main users of this car. I own Honda Civic and Honda Odyssey in US and they both are auto transmission.

I used to drive M800 about 15 years ago when I was in India but I do not dare anymore to drive car in India because of the traffic patterns followed here and increased traffic. I just lost touch or became old. :-).

I badly wanted to drive this car as I am excited about the new car so I stayed late until most of the people in Hyderabad went to bed so there won't be anymore traffic so I can drive the car in peace.

I drove this car and it is really good car. I liked the power steering and the gear box is also easy to operate for somebody like who lost touch with the manual transmission cars for a while.

I will add pictures soon and also other experiences with the car. I have only one more week left in India to play with this car. After that it is my Dad who will be having fun with this car.

Congrats on your new purchase.But i differ in your advice to new car buyers to buy accessories from outside.The point is that procure a bill from the dealer on the fitments of accessories and then they are liable for any damage done due to that accessory.And more over you can get them changed if they have promised a genuine accessory and then fitted an after market one.Remember that a genuine accessory can be fitted from any dealer but not through outside vendors.

You brought up a good point. The reason I went with the Dealer for accessories is because I thought they use the genuine parts.

Congrats on the i10. Saw a champagne gold i10 today. Looks decent in this shade. Quite a few i10s are joining the team. Have fun.

I'm not too sure about the parts being used. If you get something done at the dealership,it doesn't void the warranty,IIRC. So it might be safer (though more expensive) to get anything done at the dealership.

Champaigne gold looks good and as you said, easy to maintain. I am facing all the difficulties in the world to maintain my black i10. But i dont regret it as I love Black :)
