New Honda City V-Tec 1200 kms. Report(With Pics)

Hi Guys,

This is my first post at Team-Bhp and must say this site is a dream come true for any car lover, i just stumbled across this site a few days back(wonder how i missed it for so long).

I was planning to buy a new car for long time. I had shortlisted Hyundai Verna CRDI, Toyota Innova 2.5, SX-4, New Honda City and Swift Vdi(quite a buffet.. i know)

I took test drive of Verna thrice(awesome pickup) the mid-range reminds of Honda Civic, loved the pull-out door handles, hated the dash board, gear box was fine, so was the leg room but i had my doubts over the longevity of the CRDI engine.

Innova was spot on in every way but you get over its van type looks and cumbersome size in the city.

SX-4 was good too but low speed rides were a bit harsh, excellent ground clearance though

Now the last contender Swift Vdi, i must say i was in love with this car. Great mileage, pick up, maneuverability.

It was going be a tough choice to select one from all these cars, thats what i thought until i took me missus for test drive NHC idsi, everything was out of the window. decision taken in 5 mins. flat. Honda city or no car.

Then yours truly went to dealership to sign the contract. The guys at newly opened Rushubh Honda were excellent in every which way, i was given pillows, car cover, mats, insurance as freebies, i tried to haggle out a rear spoiler which didn't work as it cost a cool 15000 bucks.

On the day of delivery at last minute i change my mind to get the vtec which was around 80,000 bucks dearer but had mag wheels, double din stereo, optitron gauges(love em), spoiler, disc brakes on all four wheels and lastly the beastly vtec engine. The guys at Honda were only very happy to oblige and on 13 Mar 2008 i took delivery of my new Alabaster Silver NHC Vtec.

Almost 3 months later now i think it the right choice i made or rather my wife made for me.

Interiors:
Lets not even compare any car i this segment with Honda's interiors. fantastic dash, very roomy, great plastics, steering great to grip, but glaring omission of not having over head light but in between front and back seats, also the seats a little soft for my liking.
Exterior:
Great looks, paint quality excellent.
Ride/Engine:
Driving this car in the city is a breeze, so easy to park, to reverse and on the highway when vtec kicks in the car just glides. The acceleration especially after 3500RPM is amazing. The grip has also improved after i changed the tires to Bridgestone potenza 180/75 R14.
Stereo:
Standard Alpine CDA-W925EHI double-din players with four horrible speakers probably costing 20 buck per piece(Changed them to Pioneer TS-6992 460W 5-way ones) sounds much better now.

Lastly a big thumbs to Honda guys, there service has been top notch and i have getting regular service reminders from them.

just need to change the head lamps bulbs, suggestions are welcome guys, thanks.

good choice. Years of trouble free driving. Does it have ABS?
You can go for a philips extreme vision (stock wattage but more light).
Good that you changed the speakers...

Not every VTEC has ABS with Airbags. That is only on the high-end VTEC.

Airbags is now standard with the VTEC. Dont think he was on time for the airbags thing. AFAIK airbags were made standard in VTEC only in april

Congrats bobster.

Thats a fast car you have! But what i found interesting is that you were bowled over by the iDSi version. Could you tell how?

Thanks buddy, negatives i can think of are over soft seats and the thick A pillars which hamper visibility to some extent(will get use to it probably)

Thanks, Price a trifle under 9L. ABS and Airbags available in vtec plus which a whopping 10.8L.
F.E. around 12 in city and 16.5 on the way with A.C. on all the time.
