Thanks Dadu and lohithrao

Service guy told that dont drive above 60 for first 2K kms as it will allow engine to settle down. The engine will perform better and will return good FE
Is it true??

First congrats on your new addition. Delivery within 15 days is excellent with the kind of waiting period the car has....

Yes, the showroom service person is true. Just drive her carefully well within 2.5k rpm for first 1000 kms. Then the engine will settle down and will give you much higher returns. Just my 2 cents.

IMO, 5K is too much. Just drive within 2500 rpm for 1000 kms will suffice for getting maximum return from its heart.

maverick its more to do with the 'adaptive learning ECM' than with the engine components that this advice of 'running in' holds true. Other than the main bearings almost all other parts are made together and the tolerances are quite minimal. So be gentle with the car and you will have a real gem.IMHO please dont 'pussy foot' it !

Yea as snaronikar had stated 5K is too much and first 1000Kms be soft on the engine and dont revv it beyond 2500 rpm for the engine to settle down and to return good FE.

Congrats on the new ride. Swift in white looks really neat.

OT: Can we fit the rear washer/wiper from the Zxi on the VDi ?

HI friends ,

I also bought a silky silver swift vdi last Monday and have done around 55o kms and have a few observations. Firstly the pickup of the car is not that great (specially in third gear) and the FE that i got till now is only 17kms/ltr agaist the 21 kms i used to get on my previous vdi. Please advice me how mush time more the engine will take to settle down and would installation of pete's tuning box help get engine smoother

Hi mohit

The engine will get better after first service.what i was told by service guy was please feed the engine properly(with normal diesel) and don't look at FE for first 5000Kms.Do take care of the engine by not revving it too hard and Im sure you will hit the 21km/lt mar again

hi maverick thanks for your valuable inputs. I have changed my stock tyres to michllin 185/70/R14 ( hope the tyre size is correct) I would be obliged if u try putting your car in 5th gear at speed of 50kms/hr without any engine knocking or any other trouble. I would really appreciate if we talk in person my number is 9814112255.

Hi Mag

I am waiting for the VDi ABS version booked through Leaseplan for the last 3 months and the dealer (Mandovi) still says 1 more month is required! VDi without ABS is delivered in about 2 months in Bangalore.
