NISSAN X TRAIL test drive

This monday Nissan's Hyderabad showroom was inaugurated ... One of the partners in the TAPASVI NISSAN is a very good friend of mine ...
I was there for the inauguration of the showroom which was done by Telugu Movie Star Jagapathi Babu ....
and after i had the privilige of taking the XTRAIL out on the road ....
What can i say about that car / SUV ...
As soon as i sat inside i first noticed that there was no speedometer behind the steering ... I was puzzled and looked around and There it was .... Speedometer and other dials are located in the centre of the Dashboard ...
Hmmm thought Nissan had styled that conveniently for both LHD and RHD Versions ... and After starting the car / SUV i felt that engine didnt start cos i felt no vibrations as in other SUVs the Engine was silent ....
Common Rail's Biggest Pluspoint .... the Nissan have named it DCi
The acceleration was amazing .. that SUV zoomed better than accent CRDi or Elantra Crdi ... the car was very powerful considering that it has 2.6 Common rail direct injection system ...
It was exhilerating ... the gear ratios were excellently matched to the engine and the car could also accelerate from 3rd gear at 20 kmph ....
But the enjoyment was shortlived as the test drive was short ... BUT my friend promised me a still longer drive the next sunday as he promised me a fishing trip to a Reservoir 90 kms out of Hyd ...

The car felt good in all departments ... It was 6 speed manual .. it has 2 wheel option , Auto aoption where the Four Wheel Drive is activated when neccessary and lock option Full time 4wheel drive ....
It has good seats and very good interiors though i am disapointed a little with the steering wheel ...
It had only one Minus point as far as i felt ... the rear silencer box is mounted too low and was the lowest point of the car ...
i think it will Bottom out if we do a serious Offroading ...
BUT THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT IS THE PRICE ....
HYD EXSHOWROOM PRICE IS 25 LAKHS ...
my friend says that the landing cost of car into India is just 10laks and the remaining amount is the TAXES ... as the car comes in CBU ....
well thats my review of Nissan X trail ,car which i will not and cannot buy ..

P.S any details missing please excuse as this is my first review in my whole life

two weeks before, I test Drove the XTrail, a silver colored one in Chennai.
what a SUV it is. The gears were Solid, slotted like magnets and the engine was like a pent up Lion. It has 2WD, 4WD and an Auto, which allows the engine to choose by itself.
indicators switch in the steering wheel, plenty of boot space and a fibre flexible impact sides.

27.8 lakhs on the Road.
half of it paid as a tax to the govt. s**t
Will throw out the other SUV's

Well considering that CRV comes in Petrol and Nissan X Trail comes in Common Rail Diesel ....., there is bound to be Price Difference and a Differnce in Taxation
and I think CRV is NOT a CBU ... it is a SKD .... Semi Knocked Down ....
The CRV is assembled at HondaSIEL factory in Karnataka .....

Would expect a differentiional of max 2 lkhs for a diesel - look at a merc for comparison. CRV's are imported - they are shipped to Singapore and pulled in as and when a specific order is placed.

hondaSIEL factory in Karnataka - tell me where !

had taken a pic of a Nissan X-Trail on New Years Eve. The car was very dirty, the tyres weren't clean. The plastic coating on the number plate was peeling off. Here it is:

hi haryan,
the x-trail sports a 2184 cc common rail engine, not a 2.6 litre one.
and yeah, the car is great, especially when compared to the indian HM pajero, which just about has the same price tag, but falls short of the nissan on all counts.
and nice write-up man, keep up the good work.

Sorry to derail the thread but while I understand the car like characteristics of the CRV and XTrail are beneficial , why would anyone choose them over an Endeavour 4x4.....
