My 1995 Alfa Romeo 155 2.5L V6

so i thought i'd drop back in with a new development. as some of you know, i have a few fiats and a mitsi pajero in the garage already:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/introd...ie-london.html

but a friend of mine constantly goaded me on my choice of road weapon. "a true petrolhead has owned at least one alfa romeo..."

and so attached are photos of my latest, and what i may come to view with hindsight in a few years, worst purchase..

a 1995 alfa romeo 155 2.5L V6, it was once red, now it's a sickly pinky purple, dents here and there, and that funny musty smell of....something dead in the boot! still the test drive was great, a fully functioning foor door sporting saloon, with all the toys, i look forward to cleaning her up and out, and putting the upgraded steering and suspension to the test on upcoming trackdays.

that's if the infamous alfa electrical gremlins, and build issues don't come back to haunt what is in essence a fiat tipo re-shell.

i'll keep you posted. btw: anyone want to buy a pajero?!

And cry tears of blood when she spends more time being fixed then being driven!

Joking Jai, hope you have good luck with the Alfa! They're wonderfully appealing machines but unfortunately they're pretty fragile too!

Keep us updated on how it goes!

because as the saying goes "the juice is worth the squeeze"

yes she is a bit tempramental, and faults galore, but if i want 100% ultra reliable motoring, i already have a mitsubishi pajero. that's a good, solid, dependable car. the alfa if for the heart, having already blitzed a few corners, and humbled the straights, the V6 spinning up and growling, i defy anyone not to be hooked.

and anyway, don't you find you have a better understanding of your car, if you have worked on her yourself?

Considering it's age, it looks like the Performance Car it is famed to be.

I don't think this your point-A to point-B transportation. If you think like the Enfield Owners in India, I don' think those "bugs" are an issue. Temperamental Italian Cars and all that!!!

Congratulations! Keep us updated on the upgrades, though!

not much in the way of updates, the alfa is in the garage at the moment having new discs and pads all round fitted, as well as a new driveshaft bracket.

on sunday however was put on a rolling road to see how many of the 160 horses were still under the bonnet. fingers were crossed, as i hadn't redlined her yet, but the roller operator Oggie, had no such qualms, and stuck the boot in hard.....

Awesome machine jai-uno.
Good luck with the reliability. Those of us who have seen clarkson and crew with their cheap alfas know.

Good to see that none of your horses have 'escaped' from your bonnet yet !
